THREE
"Hola, mi sol."
Carlos Sainz greeted his girlfriend as she stood with her friends, Pierre and Yuki.
The two AlphaTauri drivers furrowed their eyebrows together at the nickname that the Spanish driver had used for their friend, before noticing how he had gently took a hold of her hand.
Adelina Oliveria was forced to smile as she felt the fingers of the Ferrari driver interwine with her own.
"Hi, Carlos." Adelina raised an eyebrow at the man as she questioned his actions, before she noticed the smirk that he was giving her.
"You two are dating?"
Yuki Tsunoda questioned with a surprised look on his face as he noticed his best friend holding the hand of one of his fellow drivers.
"Uh, yeah." Adelina lied, though her voice did not sound convincing at all.
"Are you sure about that?" Pierre Gasly spoke in confusion as he crossed his arms in front of his chest.
He couldn't help but doubt it, since he was very aware of his friends rubbish ability to lie, and that she had never spoken about the Sainz man before in a romantic way.
"Would I be saying yes if we weren't?" Adelina attempted to make her voice sound believable, but she knew that somebody who knew her well enough would be able to tell that it was fake and that she was lying.
"Probably."
The French man squinted his eyes at his friend before his drifted his gaze over to the Sainz man, seeing him staring at the Portuguese girl.
"Does Mick know?"
Carlos gently squeezed her hand as he felt her body tense up at the knowledge that she would have to lie to her closest friend.
"Or your dad?"
Adelina felt tears threatening to form in her eyes at the mere mention of her father, and felt a sharp stabbing pain form in her chest, of which she knew was guilt.
"We wanted to keep it secret, so we're slowly starting to tell people now that we are comfortable with our relationship being public." Carlos spoke instead of his girlfriend, since he could see that she was starting to crack already.
Yuki noticed how Pierre stared down the two of them with a small glare, the blue of his eyes concentrating mainly on his Oliveria friend.
"How do I know that you're good enough for her?"
Carlos shifted his gaze multiple times from between the Gasly man and his new girlfriend, before he puffed his chest out slightly.
"You know me."
Pierre nodded his head up and down as his demeanour never faltered. "I do. But I know her, too."
"There's no need to be so protective, Pierre." Carlos spoke in a cool tone to the French man.
"You're dating the girl that I see as my sister, so I'd say that there is." Pierre challenged him.
"He's dating who?"
Mick Schumacher spoke with his eyebrows furrowed together as he arrived to see his best friend holding the hand of one of the Ferrari drivers.
"Your best friend is dating Sainz, and we're only just finding out about it." Pierre spoke sourly, since all he wanted to do was to protect his friend.
"She can't be, Ads would have told me if she was dating anybody, especially a driver." Mick spoke before he took notice of the guilty look that was plastered on her face.
"You didn't tell me?" The Schumacher boy frowned, as a feeling of hurt washed over him.
"We wanted to keep it a secret until we were comfortable with being in public together." Carlos lied to the young German, since he didn't trust the girl beside him to not break.
It was obviously a lot harder to have to lie to her best friends than she had thought.
"But, you could have told me before, right? I wouldn't have told anybody." Mick's lips formed a pout as he stared at his best friend.
"I'm sorry, Mick." Adelina apologised as her voice cracked.
She knew that Mick was hurting and upset that she had not told him and that she lied to him, but she definitely hadn't thought it through.
She thought that it would have been much easier to lie to them.
She wanted to break and tell him everything, since she hated being the reason as to why he was so sad, but she knew that she couldn't.
She had to make people believe that she was dating Carlos.
She had to make Lance believe that she was dating Carlos.
"Hey guys."
Charles Leclerc waved at his friends before he came to rest beside his team mate, Carlos Sainz.
"Did you know that my best friend was dating your team mate?" Pierre questioned with a small glare.
"Charles isn't dating Carlos." Yuki spoke quietly, in an attempt to lighten the mood.
Charles snapped his head towards his team mate in surprise, as his eyebrows were raised with his mouth slowly hanging open.
"No. Since when?"
"Two weeks." Adelina muttered quietly underneath her breath.
"So you haven't told anybody, huh?" Pierre raised an eyebrow as Mick furrowed his, using his eyes to scour over his best friend.
"Pierre, calm down." Charles attempted to soothe the situation, since he did not want his friends to argue.
"It's a good job that your father can't talk because he would immediately call you out on your absolute bullshit." Pierre huffed.
"Hey!" Carlos raised his voice as he stepped inbetween the two of them. "Don't talk to her like that."
Charles Leclerc could see the tears welling up in the eyes of the Oliveria girl, since he knew that her father was a sensitive subject.
He knew that she had felt like she had lost her father, even though he was still alive. He knew from experience the pain that she felt when she would see people with their fathers, since she wasn't able to have that.
The Leclerc boy wrapped his arm loosely around her shoulder to help pull her along, and slowly began to walk with her towards his garage, as his team mate followed closely behind.
"Come on, you'll love Ferrari's catering."
