Two long weeks went by and Christmas was finally coming around. And once again, Stevie got reminded of just how fast time went by as she stood in her big beautiful house, watching people helping decorating it for her big Christmas party the other day that she arranged every year. Even though, she felt nothing but in the mood for celebrating, she knew she could not hide in her bedroom forever, and having the people around that she loved and cared about the most would most likely help her to overcome the massive heartache she was currently dealing with since she had Lindsey thrown out of her condo two weeks ago.

Ever since she had broken up with him, he had not tried to contact her once. No calls, no text messages and no visits. And there she had been thinking he loved her. Bullshit! She had just been a good fuck on the side – again. Stevie sighed and sat down on the floor in front of her beautiful, big Christmas tree, trying hard to not get another crying fit, as Sulamith cuddled up between her legs.

"Oh baby..", Stevie sobbed and blinked away her tears, petting the little dog, "Mommy's sad.."

"Stevie?"

"Yes?", she answered and took one deep breath before turning her head around, she certainly didn't want Karen to see her crying again.

"We're finished."

"Already?"

"Yes. The food was delivered, the decoration is finished and the bottles are in the fridge."

"So.. That means it's time to say goodbye now, right?"

"Yes.", Karen said softly.

Stevie smiled sadly and stood up to wrap her assistant into her arms who had become one of her closest friends over the years, "You know I would love for you to stay and celebrate with us, don't you?"

"I know.", Karen said, "But I really want to spend some time with my family.."

"I know. And you've got every right to! It's been a rough year! And I am so thankful to have you by my side, Karen! I could not ask for a better assistant and friend than you!"

"Oh, Stevie..", Karen blushed slightly, touched by Stevie's words.

"No, it's true. What would I do without you?! You're my rock! Whatever it is, I can always count on you! And that's why I have a little something for you..", Stevie said and ran to one of her secretaries to pull out a big envelope, "This is for you."

"Stevie.. You shouldn't have..-"

"Yes, I should.", she smiled, "Open it up!"

Karen looked at Stevie one more time, then opened up the envelope to find two tickets inside of it.

"You'll go and have a nice break, will you?", Stevie muttered as she watched Karen staring at the tickets.

"The Seychelles?!", Karen shrieked, "Oh my God! But Stevie this is way too much! I can't take it!"

"No, it isn't. I know you met someone. Don't make the same mistake than I did and let your job become more important than love because it isn't worth it, you understand me?", Stevie said and looked deeply into Karen's eyes, "Go and call that guy, tell him you're going to have three romantic weeks ahead of you and enjoy your time off! I know I can be a pain in the ass from time to time!"

"Stevie.. I don't even know how..", Karen stuttered, desperately searching for the right words to express her gratitude towards her boss.

"I wish you a merry Christmas!", Stevie said with a smile and hugged her assistant once more before walking her to the door.
