"Can I stay the night?", Lindsey asked suddenly, causing Stevie to lift her head and look up at him.
"You want to?"
"Yes.. I missed you so much.."
"Lindsey.. What about..-"
"Shhh..", Lindsey hushed her, he didn't want to hear about his wife and children right now, "Will you let me stay?"
"I don't think this is such a great idea.. We're not on the road anymore.. Lindsey, we're back home. We can't just..-"
"Please?", he interrupted her once again.
Stevie looked into his eyes. There was a pleading expression in them she hadn't seen in a very long time. She sighed, then nodded slowly, "Okay. If this is what you want.."
"It is what I want.", Lindsey confirmed with a bright smile on his face and kissed happily the tip of her nose.
"Where are you going?", she asked when he all of a sudden stood up and went inside.
"Toilet. I'll be back in a few.", he said and walked away, leaving her sitting outside on her balcony all on her own.
What the hell were they doing, she asked herself once again. This was growing into a much more serious affair with him coming by in the middle of their break from touring. But what could she do? She couldn't deny how much she enjoyed having him here with her. And that kiss. Wow. It had certainly taken her breath away. He had been so loving, so caring, so romantic...
Suddenly, a familiar melody reached her ears and she turned her head around to see Lindsey lazily standing in the door frame, sweetly watching her.
"You haven't been to the bathroom, have you?"
"I don't even know where it is.", he chuckled and approached her.
"You put on that song.."
"Yes. I saw the record lying in the cupboard.. You remember that night?"
"Of course I do..", she whispered.
"Come and dance with me?", he held out his hand for her.
"You hate dancing."
"You love dancing."
"I do."
"Then, come on", Lindsey smiled and she took his hand, letting him help her standing up.
He pulled her into his arms, her blanket falling to the ground, and held her strongly to his chest, slowly they began to move.
Stevie closed her eyes when she lay her head on his chest and felt his left hand caressing her left side, his right hand playing with her fingers, slowly bringing them to his mouth and kissing each of them softly, while they danced in circles to the slow music.
She stroked his back in return and sighed happily. He kissed the top of her head, then lowered his head to nuzzle her neck and plant a few loving, wet kisses on her skin. She shivered lightly when a chilly breeze blew coldly over those wet spots, making her skin crawl and her nipples harden in excitement.
"Stephanie..", he mumbled and she lifted her head to look into his eyes.
"Mmmm?"
He tucked a strand of golden hair behind her ear and kissed her again, this time on her mouth.
Throughout the whole song they stood there, kissing and caressing each other but still slowly moving in circles. Lindsey has never been a great dancer but the gesture itself and this very moment under a sky full of stars was so unbelievably romantic and melancholic, reminding her so much of the last time they had danced to this song, so many years ago when they had been together, before Kristen had walked into his life and he had left her.
