There's a reason why I didn't play badminton. I was terrible at it. And yet somehow, I found myself with a racket in my hand, beside Adrian, waiting for the opposing team (Philip and Brian) to start the match.
The fact that they were a player short and three sets of puppy eyes requested me to join them was enough to convince me to join their match.
[FYI : I am left - handed]
SMACK! The shuttle hit my head.
Phrian: 1 Brilip: 4
"I told you I suck at playing badminton"
"And I told you, we can win it as a team." Adrian replied while picking the shuttle up and handing it to me.
I frowned. Still doubtful about that statement.
Hit, strike, hit, strike. SCORE!
Twenty minutes later, and we just needed one more point to win the game.
The shuttle came towards me - "Hit it!" - and SMACK! I hit it!
I jumped out of pure joy and looked at my teammate who was beaming just as brightly as me, and was already looking at me.
I high - fived him. And we hugged.
"A left - hander and a right - hander always make the best teams you know." Adrian said with a, was it a smirk?
"Oh I bet, but this one was pure luck, honey. I am terrible at playing badminton. You and I both know that." I said.
His eyebrows raised at the word honey and his smirk deepened. He'd liked it. Butterflies took flight in my stomach and I turned away to hide the red staining my cheeks.
It was late when I finally laid back on the bed and closed my eyes. My head was drowning in thoughts, but the currents were all of one thing. One person. Adrian.
My eyes blew wide open as a realisation crossed my mind. A thought I'd been ignoring since the time I'd won the match.
When I had looked at Adrian, beaming and smiling after we'd won that match, I had wanted to kiss him. More than anything. In that one moment, it was only he who my eyes saw. It was only he who my arms longed for and he who my lips craved for.
Sometimes, things happen. With or without our permission. Sometimes, we fall. Sometimes, the fall is hard. Sometimes, the fall takes us to the height of a whole new world.
I know, I was gone for a while too long, but we're back on track now! I'll be updating you guys regularly. Stay tuned for more!!
