She walked through the hallway with the maid who had been waiting for her to leave her room. Across the hallway, leading downstairs, she noticed that the house didn't have many expensive or luxurious items. Looking around, it seemed her family's finances were indeed poor, which made sense to her. She scanned the place, thinking about things that might be worth selling.

"This place looks old and rusty; there aren't many valuable items worth selling," she muttered.
"It's because the house is in unstable financial straits after paying off the debt," the maid abruptly interrupted her thoughts.

Iris flinched as the maid spoke from behind her, turning her head just enough to shoot a glare in the maid's direction. The woman looked young—perhaps in her late twenties—with navy blue hair framing her face and gray eyes that seemed to hold an unspoken understanding. For a moment, Iris dismissed her as just another background character, one never mentioned before.

"I see," she replied tersely, turning her gaze back to the hallway ahead, the weight of her family's situation settling heavily on her shoulders.

The realization hit her hard. Was her family really this poor? It didn't make sense. Iris was the daughter of a Viscount, a noble title that should have afforded at least some level of wealth. Her thoughts drifted back to the game. Iris' backstory had never been fully fleshed out; just that she came from a noble family that had fallen on hard times. But the details of that fall had always been vague.

Her family's financial situation became unstable after they paid off their debts.Despite their troubles, Family Business was known for selling potions, perfumes, and other types of herbs. Her father, in a desperate move, borrowed a large sum of money from Trinket, a well-known merchant, after making a deal for potion-making materials. That decision ultimately led to their downfall
After her family went bankrupt, Iris took on the role of an alchemy teacher at Arcane Academy to help her family. However, she soon became entangled in an evil scheme involving illegal drugs, which drove her to madness and transformed her into a monstrous being known as the Darkwing Enchantress."In other words, they got scammed," she said, her face darkening with a mix of fury and shock. She stood silent in the hallway with the maid, both of them frozen in that moment.

"...."

Ugh, this is so frustrating! Why did Father borrow a large sum of money from a scammer?!* Her thoughts spiraled, full of frustration and silent curses. What was he thinking?
Suddenly, the maid spoke, breaking the tense silence. "My lady, we have arrived at the dining room."

"Huh, where?"

"Here," the maid replied, her left hand gesturing toward the door beside them.

"Oh."

Iris glanced up, her eyes landing on a large door made from thick wood, intricately decorated with floral designs. Wow, even the door is pretty! I wonder what the inside looks like... she thought, momentarily distracted by the craftsmanship.
When the maid opened the door, Iris's imagination shattered. The dining room looked like something out of a medieval era, complete with a thick wooden table and sturdy chairs adorned with floral designs. The dining room was empty, as none of Iris's family had shown up yet.
She stood there, dumbfounded.

"This way, my lady," the maid said, guiding her to a chair

As she settled into the chair, Iris turned to the maid. "Where are the other members of my family?" she asked, curiosity threading through her tone.

The maid replied, "His grace will not have dinner with us today due to his busy schedule, but the young master will be here soon."

Young master? So that means I have a young sibling? Iris pondered, a mix of surprise and intrigue washing over her. I wonder what he looks like. The game never mentioned anything about Iris having a sibling, as she wasn't part of the main story

"What about my mother?" she asked curiously.

The maid startled, her gaze dropping as she thought of the late viscountess.

Iris fell silent, sensing the weight of the moment and deciding not to ask any more questions. Maybe I shouldn't have asked about that, she thought.

Just as the maid was about to comfort her, the door swung open with a loud creak. It was the young boy, his dark black hair and striking purple eyes mirroring Iris's own features. "The young master has arrived," the butler announced.

As the boy sat down in front of her, Iris couldn't help but think, He's cute! Not only that, but he looks just like me! A smile crept into her mind, giggling at the thought.

"Why are you smiling like that? It's creepy," he said as he whispered to himself, making a disgusted face and speaking in rude tone

Just when Iris thought he was cute, her expression shifted from a happy beam to a disdainful glare. Look at this kid! I can hear you whisper! Iris thought, feeling a surge of annoyance. "It's not the manner to talk back to your older sibling. Where did you learn to speak like that?" she snapped in a firm, calm tone.

"Maybe if you weren't always smiling like a weirdo, I wouldn't have to!" he shot back, crossing his arms defiantly. "I can say what I want!"

"YOU LITTLE KID!"

"HAH, DID YOU JUST CALL ME LITTLE? Just because you were born first doesn't mean I have to listen to every word you say!"

"YOU BETTER WATCH THAT MOUTH OF YOURS, UNLESS YOU WANT FOR ME TO INFORM FATHER OF YOUR RUDENESS!"

"NOW YOU'RE THREATENING ME WITH FATHER?! HOW DISGRACEFUL!

"YOU SON OF A BI—"

They argued like cats and dogs, while the servants watched nervously, sweating and waiting for someone to intervene before things escalated. Just as they were about to throw hands, the kitchen door swung open, and the head chef emerged, carrying a lavish spread of delicious meals.

"DINNER IS READY!" he announced, interrupting their heated exchange.
