Raindrops and Rainbows

"Ready 3,2,1 go!" Leaping off the bottom step of the creaky wood I start sprinting towards the crystal clear blue waves, trying not to bump into the other people at the beach setting up their umbrellas and towels. I look back once the water is close to me trying to find her. I finally spotted her catching up to me "I'm going to win!" I yell back at her as I continue running the water is within leaping distance so I take the jump landing right where the tide hits. The salty ocean mist cools my body down from the scorching heat of July.

Looking up at the bright blue sky no clouds in sight, seagulls flying overhead. Turning my attention back to the shore throwing my arms in the air. "Haha! I wonn!" I yell and laugh before suddenly I feel two hands as the right arm before I can realize I'm being pushed I collapse into the water, *splash* the salty taste of the water invading my mouth. My arms sporadic as I sit try to sit back up and escape the water.

Breaking through the water I start to cough and take a deep breath.  Turning around I'm met with the grinning face of my best friend looking back at me "Sneak attack at its finest!" She says cheerfully, her eyes glimmering with mischief but crinkled from her smile taking over half her face. I smile back at her and wink playfully before pushing her in a yelp leaves her lips as she falls backward her arms going in circle sporadically trying to balance her self. But she fails hilariously.

" Never leave your guard down!" I say through a giggle as a small wave mets us by the shore pushing us over slightly. "That was un-called for." She says while wiping her face of the water droplets, standing up her light pink two piece bathing suit now darker from the water before she grabs my hand and dives back into the water. Dragging me with her. "Come on, you slow poke!" I smile at her before joining her under into the crystal clear water illuminating by the blazing sun.

About 20 feet from shore we take a break from swimming, kicking back my feet and laying back I go into a back float I hear water movement beside me. Looking over I see Lily next to me joining me as we sunbathe. She sees me looking at her and smiles before looking back up to the sky, clouds now scattered around.

" Do you ever wish we could stay here forever?" Her voice calm still looking up " Of course it would be so nice, but only if there were no sharks" I respond with a slight laugh at the end. "I really don't get why you're so scared of sharks! They're so cute and like your little ocean friends." She exclaims moving her arms slightly as she spoke. "I'm friends with a psycho I swear!" Grinning while I splash water on to her face.

Disappointed we eventually had to swim back to shore tired and hungry. Making it onto the sand cooled down slightly as the sun is stuck behind clouds we head back to where the blanket and bags we tossed near the stairs earlier in the day. Grabbing them we walk to a corner next to a rock formation and struggle to set up the blanket.

"Gummy bears or chips?" I ask grabbing the bag and rummaging through it holding them up facing her. "How aboutttt both!" She says joyful, while she snatches the bags out of my grasp and opens the salt and vinegar chips first. Grabbing a few and stuffing them into her mouth. Not letting go of the bag.

"Heyy sharing is caring." I whack her shoulder lightly. "Well maybe don't be so slow next time and you should have known I was gonna do that." Saying as she flicks my nose. Suddenly her eyes light up " Ooo!! What if we try to throw the gummy bears in each other's mouths." She says while I run here she flicked my nose. "Number one ow you bitch and number two yesss!... Me first though" Scooting back I get ready for the first shot. Opening the bag quickly I toss a red gummy bear, she almost catches it but it ends up hitting her lip "Oww why does your aim suck so much " she says through a laugh and throwing the now somewhat sandy gummy bear at me.

"Oopsie!" I say also laughing before grabbing another handful of gummy bears and earring them for myself " I want some don't eat them all you fattie" aggressively grabbing the bag "Bitch" I say mumbled by the 5 gummy bears in my mouth.

A bunch of snacks later along with jokes and playful hitting every now and again the sun starts to set. We should get ice cream.. standing up I grab Lily's hand she gives me a confused look before using my hand to help her stand. " Why are we standing? My legs still hurttt" Oh my gosh she complains so much. "It's a surprise" I intertwine my fingers with hers and start skipping towards the parking lot dragging her with me, " Omg Penelope slow down and let me get up!"

I hear Lily yell from behind me struggling to stand. " Last one there is a rotten egg!!" Going from skipping I start to run letting go of her hand " That's not fair! I don't know where we're going!!" Oh yeah I forgot I told her it was a surprise. But she sounds so cute all annoyed like tha- wait... did I just think she was cute? No- no in a friend way... yea.
