It was a quiet, snowy afternoon, the kind of day where the world seemed to slow down. Everything outside was covered in a thick blanket of white, and soft snowflakes continued to drift lazily from the sky. Inside a small cabin, away from the chaos of their usual lives, Dabi and Hawks had found a rare moment of peace.
Hawks sat by the window; his golden eyes drawn to the mesmerizing sight of Dabi standing outside. The fire crackled softly in the background, but Hawks barely noticed; he was too caught up in watching the snow fall. His wings fluttered gently behind him, though he wasn't cold. The sight of Dabi standing in the snow, dark clothes and black hair contrasting sharply against the white landscape, sent a warmth through him that had nothing to do with the fire.
Dabi, hands stuffed in his pockets, tilted his head back slightly, watching the snowflakes as they danced through the air and fell onto his face and hair. Hawks couldn't take his eyes off him. The snowflakes caught in Dabi's unruly black locks, settling like tiny crystals in his hair, and for a moment, he looked ethereal—so different from the hardened, scarred man he often presented to the world.
Hawks smiled to himself. It was rare to see Dabi so calm, so at ease. He looked... peaceful.
"Enjoying the view?" Dabi's gruff voice interrupted Hawks' thoughts. He hadn't moved his head, but Hawks knew that smirk anywhere.
"Who, me?" Hawks asked innocently, leaning back in his chair, but his eyes still tracked Dabi. "I'm just admiring the snow."
"Uh-huh. Sure." Dabi's voice was teasing, but he didn't seem bothered. In fact, a hint of a smile tugged at the corners of his lips. He finally turned, walking back towards the cabin. As he came inside, brushing the snow off his coat, Hawks' gaze lingered on the snowflakes still clinging to his hair. They sparkled like stars against the midnight blackness of his hair, and it made something inside Hawks' chest flutter.
Dabi raised an eyebrow, catching Hawks staring. "What?"
Hawks shrugged, a playful grin on his face. "You've got a little something in your hair."
Dabi frowned, running a hand through his hair, dislodging some of the snowflakes. "I'm not even gonna ask," he muttered, stepping closer to the fire to warm up.
Hawks chuckled, standing up and walking over to him. Without saying a word, he reached up, gently brushing a few remaining snowflakes from Dabi's hair, his fingers lingering longer than necessary. Dabi glanced up at him, a soft huff escaping his lips, though there was no real irritation in his eyes.
"You're such a sap," Dabi murmured, but there was no bite to his words. In fact, his voice was unusually soft, almost affectionate.
"Maybe," Hawks said, his voice equally soft. His hand moved to cup Dabi's cheek, thumb brushing over the scarred skin there. "But you like it."
Dabi rolled his eyes but didn't pull away. Instead, he leaned slightly into the touch, his eyes closing for just a moment as he let out a slow breath. It was moments like this, quiet and intimate, that Hawks cherished.
"You're gonna get all mushy on me, aren't you?" Dabi muttered, though the way his body relaxed against Hawks' made it clear he didn't mind.
Hawks grinned, stepping even closer so that their foreheads almost touched. "Maybe just a little. Can you blame me? You look good with snow in your hair."
"You're ridiculous," Dabi said, though there was a softness in his voice that belied his words. He leaned in, pressing his lips to Hawks' in a gentle, almost fleeting kiss.
Hawks' wings fluttered again, wrapping slightly around Dabi as he deepened the kiss, his hands slipping down to rest on Dabi's waist. The warmth between them was a stark contrast to the chill outside, and for a moment, the world felt far away. It was just the two of them, wrapped in each other's warmth, with nothing to interrupt their peace.
When they finally pulled away, Dabi's breath hitched slightly, a faint blush dusting his cheeks. "You're really into this snow thing, huh?"
Hawks laughed, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Hey, I can't help it. You look good in winter."
Dabi rolled his eyes but smirked. "I guess I'll let it slide. Just this once."
They stood there for a moment longer, wrapped in each other's warmth, watching as the snow continued to fall outside. It was a rare, perfect moment of peace—one that neither of them took for granted. And as Hawks rested his head against Dabi's shoulder, his wings curled protectively around them both, he couldn't help but think that this was all he needed: Dabi, the snow, and the quiet comfort of being together.
