It was a quiet evening, one of those rare moments where the world wasn't crashing down around them, and Dabi found himself lounging on the worn-out couch in their shared apartment. The hum of the city outside was distant, a comforting backdrop to the peace inside. Hawks was somewhere in the apartment, likely doing whatever it was that kept him endlessly occupied, and Dabi was content in the silence.

But then his eyes fell on a pile of soft, fluffy blankets he'd impulsively bought earlier that day. The image of Hawks, his partner, obsessing over anything soft and fluffy had popped into his mind, and Dabi, always one to exploit a weakness, had immediately grabbed them.

An idea formed.

"Hey, birdbrain," Dabi called out casually, his voice a low drawl, "I got something for you."

There was a rustling sound from the other room, and then Hawks appeared in the doorway, his golden eyes narrowing slightly in curiosity. "Yeah? What'd you get?"

Dabi smirked and nodded toward the pile of blankets. "Thought you might like these."

Hawks' eyes widened, and in an instant, his serious expression melted into pure excitement. He darted across the room, feathers ruffling as he swooped down onto the couch, reaching for the blankets like a kid with a new toy. He grabbed one, a particularly fluffy, white one, and buried his face into it with an exaggerated sigh of contentment.

"Oh my God, Dabi," Hawks mumbled, his voice muffled by the blanket. "This is so soft. Where'd you even find these?"

"Some store," Dabi shrugged, pretending to be indifferent even as he watched Hawks curl up in the pile, a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. His heart gave a little tug, but he quickly shook it off, not wanting to seem too soft.

But then Hawks, still wrapped in the blankets, looked up at him with the most innocent, wide-eyed expression, his wings fluffing out behind him as if he were a giant, adorable bird. The sight nearly made Dabi choke on air.

"I love it!" Hawks beamed, snuggling deeper into the blanket, his golden hair peeking out from the fluffy cocoon he'd made for himself. "You should join me. This is, like, peak comfort."

Dabi tried to play it cool, but he could feel his heart racing at the sight of Hawks being so... so damn cute. "I'm good, thanks."

"Oh, come on," Hawks teased, his grin turning playful as he reached out with one hand, tugging at Dabi's sleeve. "You know you want to."

With an exaggerated sigh, Dabi relented. "Fine." He slid down from his spot and joined Hawks on the couch, letting himself be pulled into the nest of blankets. Immediately, he was hit by how soft and warm everything was, and for a moment, he just sat there, trying to ignore the way his heart felt like it might explode.

Hawks, sensing his victory, wrapped his wings around Dabi, pulling him in even closer. "See? Isn't this the best?"

Dabi grumbled something under his breath, but he didn't push Hawks away. In fact, he found himself relaxing into the embrace, the warmth and softness of both the blankets and Hawks surrounding him.

Then Hawks leaned his head against Dabi's shoulder, his voice soft and quiet. "You're so sweet, you know that?"

Dabi's cheeks burned, and he coughed awkwardly. "Shut up. I just knew you'd get all weirdly excited over some blankets."

But Hawks just chuckled, his wings fluffing up around them both as he snuggled even closer. "Whatever you say, Dabi. Whatever you say."

For a while, they just sat there in comfortable silence, the warmth of the blankets and Hawks' presence lulling Dabi into a rare state of peace. He could feel Hawks' steady breathing against his side, and despite himself, Dabi felt something stir in his chest—a softness he usually kept hidden away.

"You're ridiculous," Dabi muttered, though there was no bite in his voice this time.

"And you love me for it," Hawks shot back with a grin, his golden eyes twinkling as he nuzzled against Dabi's neck.

Dabi's heart skipped a beat, and he cursed under his breath. Damn bird was going to be the death of him.

But, as he looked down at Hawks, who was now completely wrapped up in blankets, wings curled protectively around both of them, Dabi couldn't help but feel like maybe, just maybe, he didn't mind so much after all.

And as Hawks let out a soft sigh, snuggling even closer, Dabi couldn't resist pressing a kiss to the top of his head, whispering quietly, "Yeah... I guess I do."

The soft warmth of the blankets, the steady beat of Hawks' heart against his own, and the gentle quiet that surrounded them was enough to make Dabi realize that, in moments like this, he didn't have to be anything other than exactly where he was—wrapped up in fluffy blankets and soft feelings, with the one person who could always make his heart race.
