The storm had come in fast and fierce, leaving the city dark and battered. The winds howled against the windows of Dabi and Hawks' cozy apartment, but inside, they were safe and warm—though currently deprived of electricity. Candles flickered softly throughout their home, casting gentle shadows that danced on the walls. The power outage had seemed like an inconvenience at first, but now, wrapped in blankets and surrounded by the soft glow of candlelight, it felt like a perfect moment.
Hawks sat on the edge of the couch, his wings folded neatly behind him, while Dabi, lounging on the opposite end, had his head tipped back against the cushion. The room was filled with a comfortable silence, broken only by the occasional crackle of the candles and the distant rumble of thunder.
Hawks had taken the lead in setting up the candles, his usual grace and care translating into a serene atmosphere. As he moved around the room, the warm light from the candles danced across his face, giving him an almost ethereal glow. It was in this soft light that Dabi watched him, a tender smile playing on his lips.
The blue of Dabi's eyes seemed to shimmer even more brightly in the candlelight, their depths reflecting the warm hues around them. Hawks couldn't help but be captivated by the way the light played off Dabi's features, bringing out the vibrant blue of his irises and the softness in his expression.
"You know," Hawks said, his voice a low murmur, "I've always liked the way the light looks on you."
Dabi tilted his head slightly, raising an eyebrow. "Oh? And what exactly do you mean by that?"
Hawks moved closer, his gaze never leaving Dabi's eyes. "It's just... when the light hits your eyes like this, they almost look like they're glowing. It makes them even more captivating."
Dabi chuckled softly, a warm sound that filled the space between them. "You're always good at finding something special in the little things."
Hawks reached out, his fingers gently brushing a stray lock of hair away from Dabi's face. The touch was tender, filled with affection. "I guess it's easy to find special things when I'm looking at you."
Dabi's cheeks flushed slightly, a rare but cherished sign of his vulnerability. He leaned in, closing the distance between them until his forehead gently touched Hawks'. The warmth from the candles seemed to envelop them both, creating a cocoon of intimacy.
"I guess we should thank the power outage," Dabi said softly, his voice barely above a whisper. "It's given us this... perfect moment."
Hawks smiled, his breath mingling with Dabi's. "Yeah, I think it's one of the best moments we've had in a while."
They stayed like that for a while, just enjoying the closeness and the soft glow of the candles. The storm outside was a distant memory, replaced by the serene, warm light that filled their little sanctuary. In that simple, quiet moment, it was clear that sometimes, the best experiences are found in the smallest, most unexpected places.
