THIS IS WHERE IT ENDS

PRESENT DAY

"A flower? Anong meron?" I smile and hug her so tight.

"Asta... I love you" bulong ko sa kanya, ramdam ko na natigilan siya. Kumalas ako sa yakap at tumingin sa kanya. She look so shock kaya ngumiti ako.

"Sabi sayo, bagay sayo yung mas mahabang buhok tapos brinade mo" kumurap kurap ako para pigilan ang pagtulo ng mga luha ko. Naiiyak na ako sa totoo lang.

"Your happiness is all that I want since mga bata palang tayo. At alam mong susupurtahan kita sa kahit na ano basta doon ka masaya." hinawi ko ang buhok niya na nagalaw ng hangin "You've been so mature enough and you made a name for yourself sa business world. I am so proud of you" ngumiti ako, pero halata pa rin sa kanya ang gulat.

"I'm sorry if I am too late, sorry dahil napagod ka na sa paghihintay." niyakap ko ulit siya.

One last time... this once, I wanna say it to her again..

"I love you" bulong ko ulit at bumitaw na.

Pagbitaw at sa unti unti kong paglayo sa kanya. Nagplay ang paboritong kanta niya.

Funny, she used to sing that on me every time she's in my room or when I was on her apartment. And its playing while her man is kneeling infront of her.

Miko asked me to help him sa surprise proposal niya kay Asta. I didn't hesitate na tulungan siya. And now I am here turning my back away as soon as he asked her that question.

"Asta.. will you be my wife and spend the rest of your life with me?"

Maybe I was too late. Maybe shes too early. Or its just that we're not meant to be.

Bumuntong hininga ako habang naglalakad palayo. I guess it's a sign for me now to take a rest.

Habang naglalakad ako, narinig ko ang boses ni Wil, na tinatawag ako. Pero hindi na ako nag abalang tumingin pa pabalik.

After everything, I wont take a risk to turn my back again. Ngayon, sarili ko naman. Ako naman.

And my chapter with Asta is finally closing. Its not the ending that I expected, but its not a bad ending.
