It was ten at night and Sachio thought it would be a wonderful idea to go to the cafe Mai worked in. Maybe give the Koa guy a scratch on his face too. He didn't know what he looked like but Sachio believed in his instincts even though his brain was only a bit sharper than Fujio's. They both were dumb.
"There's someone called Koa who works here?" He peeked in, spotting the old man sitting on one of the tables and playing some game on his phone. Even boomers these days were addicted to screens.
"He just left." The old man muttered without looking up at who it was.
Sachio was a fast runner. It was still a challenge for him to run down the corners of the lanes, looking for some tall ass dude and turning to another path when he didn't spot a guy. The universe was on his side though. The rest of the streets were empty.
Sachio, however learned how to be cunning over the last few days, thanks to a certain person. He decided to follow him and make him notice that just to scare him.
Koa did notice someone following him. But every time he turned around, he saw nothing despite the footsteps getting louder.
Sachio didn't want to get to violence right away. He grabbed his shoulder and stopped him.
"Who are you?" Koa scanned Sachio from head to toe after turning around.
"Take a guess."
"You seem familiar." Koa couldn't recognise a Housen without their grey pants and right now, Sachio wasn't wearing his uniform. "Why were you following me?"
Koa had no idea Sachio was here to kick his ass. He didn't panic at all. Sachio's plan to scare him did not work.
"You're Koa, right?" Sachio put his hands in his pockets. "I just need to talk to you."
Koa raised his eyebrows. He finally understood what was going on. "How are you related to her?"
"A friend." Sachio took a step forward. "So are you going to explain yourself?"
Sachio, for some reason, thought it would be nice to negotiate with him first. If he was sorry, he'd let him go.
"To you? Why?"
"Why not?" Sachio gawked. "You hurt someone."
"She was annoying. I spared her because she's a girl."
Sachio suppressed a cackle by pressing his lips together. "That's misogynistic."
"Like I give a fuck." Koa turned away.
"You still need to explain why you insulted her."
"Because she's ugly as hell and she got offended by the truth."
Sachio was losing his patience. He was always patient. Well, maybe not with Mai but that's a different issue. He pulled Koa and grabbed his collar.
"Literally who gave you the right to say that?"
Koa scoffed, rolling his eyes. "Beauty is subjective." He said.
"So is people's patience, you fucker." Sachio spat back, his knuckles landing right in the middle of Koa's face.
Koa stumbled back and fell on the ground. He covered his nose, which had obviously started bleeding.
"What are you doing?" They both heard someone yell from the corner of the lane. Mai was running towards them. She had left right when she noticed Sachio was gone. Of course, she didn't trust him. One of her band-aids was starting to fall off already.
"He had it coming." Sachio shrugged, rolling his eyes.
"Come back. Fujio bought dinner." She held his wrist, trying to bring him along. She completely ignored Koa's presence.
"Didn't know you had a boyfriend." Koa got up, still wobbling side to side.
Mai ignored him again and kept pulling Sachio. However, it made Sachio stop in his tracks.
"You got a problem with that?" Sachio turned back at him. Mai tried to pull him away but he didn't move.
"No. I was just surprised that the creature has a boyfriend."
Sachio jerked Mai's hand off and punched Koa in the same damn place. Ultimately, Koa fell on his ass and passed out.
Satisfied, Sachio grinned and reached out for her hand again. Mai stared at the figure for a while.
"I think we should take him to the hospital." She commented, shaking her head.
"We will do nothing like that." Sachio pulled her away.
"So he's going to stay there for the rest of the night?"
"Consider it sleeping."
She bit her inner cheeks to control her laughter and blinked multiple times.
Sachio noticed her face right away. "What's so funny?"
"How you come up with stupid answers to my questions."
"Maybe it's because you ask stupid questions."
She hit his arm. "I'm serious, okay? What's going to happen to him?"
"Why do you care? Didn't he hurt you?"
At that moment, they both realised that they had become like each other.
Was that even possible?
"Why did you even get out this late at night?"
"I tried to scare him..."
"Did it work?"
"No."
