___________________Myra lay under the blanket, her sobs muffled but her words painfully clear: "Main loot gayi… barbad ho gayi... meri love story shuru hone se pehle hi khatam ho gayi..." The despair in her voice filled the room, and it felt like her world had come crashing down before it ever had a chance to begin.
Outside the door, Zara, Kiana, Arya, Riva, Aarav, Eshaan, and Sia stood frozen. None of them had ever seen Myra like this, not their fiery, sarcastic friend who always seemed unshakeable. They exchanged worried glances before Zara gently pushed open the door. The group entered her room, the air heavy with concern.
Kiana was the first to sit on the edge of the bed, gently pulling back the blanket. "Myra... it's okay, we’re here," she said softly, her hand resting lightly on Myra’s shoulder. "This might just be a misunderstanding."
Zara sat beside her, brushing a few strands of hair from Myra’s tear-soaked face. "Dr Rey doesn’t even know how you feel," she whispered, her tone filled with sympathy. "You can’t jump to conclusions. He’s not aware of what this means to you."
Myra sniffled, peeking out from under the blanket with puffy eyes, her voice cracking. "But what if it's true? What if he's promised to her... and I’ve already lost before I even had a chance to say anything?"
Arya shook her head from the foot of the bed. "Dr Rey is clueless, Myra. We all know that. He wouldn't keep something like this from you intentionally. He probably doesn’t even realize what that woman meant."
Riva nodded, her calm presence a contrast to the turmoil in Myra’s heart. "Exactly. We’ve all seen how you two interact. He’s comfortable with you, more than with anyone else. Just because someone walks in claiming something doesn’t make it true."
Aarav, leaning against the wall, added, "You need to talk to him. Dr Rey is a good guy, but he’s not exactly the sharpest when it comes to understanding feelings—especially his own. He doesn’t even know what’s going on here."
Eshaan, always trying to lighten the mood, chimed in, "Honestly, Dr Rey is probably more confused right now than you are. The guy is like an emotional potato—he’ll need some serious peeling to figure out what’s happening."
Sia, sitting near the head of the bed, smiled gently. "You’re hurting because you’ve never told him how you feel, and now, this unexpected situation has thrown you off. But it’s not too late. You can still figure this out—together."
Myra’s breath hitched as she wiped her eyes with the corner of her sleeve. "You really think I still have a chance?"
Zara squeezed her hand, giving her a reassuring smile. "Of course you do. But you need to talk to him. Dr Rey doesn’t know how much this matters to you because he doesn’t know you matter to him like that yet."
With her friends rallying around her, Myra felt a flicker of hope. The ache in her chest remained, but maybe this wasn’t the end—it was just a confusing twist in the story. Rey might not know her feelings now, but that didn’t mean it had to stay that way forever.
__________________________Myra wiped away the last of her tears, taking a deep breath as she sat up straighter. Her friends exchanged relieved glances, happy to see the familiar fire in her eyes flickering back to life. Composing herself, she offered a small, determined smile. "It’s Naysha’s birthday... main meri wajah se uska birthday kharab nahi kar sakti. Let’s go and finish the decorations."
