-"Asher, you cannot be serious right now." I glared at him, pushing the strap of my backpack higher as I quickened my pace to catch up. "Do you even think before words come out of your mouth?"
He turned his head, walking just ahead of me, with a smug annoying smile on his face. "Oh come on, if you had the chance to live on a deserted island only with Wi-Fi and you wouldn't take it?"
I rolled my eyes so hard I swore I could see my own brain. "Because, Asher, people need food. Water. Actual human interaction. What are you even going to do with Wi-Fi when you're starving to death?"
Asher shrugged, and shoved his hands into his pockets. "Watch TikTok's? Order take outs? I don't know, Avery, I'm a solutions guy."
-"A solutions guy? You couldn't even solve our last math assignment."
He stopped talking for a moment—shout out to a moment of peace, but then out of the blue, the idiot started singing.-"I used to roooooooll the diceeeeee, feel the fear in my enemies eeeeeeyes, listened as the crowd would siiiiiing—" He belted, long enough that some people turned their heads to look. And the bastard of course had to wave at them.
-"Are you seriously doing this right now?" I snapped, cheeks heating as I grabbed his arm and yanked him forward. "Stop embarrassing us! It's just the first week!"
-"Embarrassing? Me? Coldplay? You should appreciate my talent more."
How am I even friends with this kid.
-"Talent," I scoffed, "Please. If they gave out awards for being a total idiot, you'd have a trophy case full by now."
He laughed, unfazed. As usual.
-"Jealousy doesnt look good on you Avery."
I shot him a glare. "And delusion doesnt look good on anyone, but here we are."
He spun in front of me, walking backward like an overgrown baby, arms spread wide. "You can't deny the fact that your mornings would have been boring as hell without me though."
I couldn't help the groan that escaped me. Asher was a sort of a breathing and walking headache. But he was right. My mornings would be boring without his silly ass.
Not that I'd ever admit that.
-"If by 'boring' you mean 'pleasant' then yeah sure." I said, crossing my arms over my chest.
-"See? You would miss me!" He grinned.
We rounded the corner just as I heard footsteps behind us, quick and steady, completely unlike the shuffling mess Asher called walking. It only meant one thing. Christian Kellen.
-"Morning Christian." I called, without turning around, already knowing the other familiar face that would greet me.
Lucky kid, he wasn't in the same class as me and Asher.
-"Morning Avery." Came his smooth reply.
-"Ugh," Asher groaned, "Here he comes to ruin my fun."
-" I can still hear you, you know," Christian said, his voice steady but still laced with exasperation. I glanced back to see him fall into step beside us, his uniform perfectly neat, his blonde hair and blue eyes, just like Asher's.
It was ridiculous how two people who looked so alike could be so completely different.
Asher was a total maniac, and a goddamn sociopath. Christian? He looked like a gentleman, the total opposite of his brother.
