By the time we reached the school gates, the place was already buzzing. Kids everywhere, laughing and yelling on the top of their lungs.
Shut up already, it's seven in the morning.
-"Okay we're two minutes ahead of schedule." Michael said, checking at his watch and looking relieved. "Let's go find our class."
Josephine gave him a lazy salute.
-"Yes,General. Right away."
But before we even get inside, I spot a bunch of assholes from my previous school I used to hang out with. Robbie, and his group of idiots, already sizing me up.
-"Jeremy!" He called out. "Did you manage to crawl of bed just in time?"
Michael looked like he was ready to melt right there.
-"Fuck off!" Josephine yelled beside me and flipped them off.
-"Not today dude," I muttered, hoping that if I looked bored enough, they'd leave me alone.
He's clearly not having it. "What? Are you too cool for us now Jeremy? Thought you'd disappear with your buddy Asher. Where is he?"
I clenched my jaw at the mention.
-"Hey you're kinda in our way." Josephine pulled at my arm, probably knowing it was itching to throw a punch.
I try to ignore him and move past him, but before I know it, one of his goons —Tim or something- steps in as well. And he threw a punch straight at me.
I ducked it easily, his fist landing in the air where my face was supposed to be.
-"Did you seriously try to punch me?" I said, starting to get a bit pissed. "Don't you know I've been taking boxing lessons since I was six?"
-"Are you too scared to fight Jeremy?" Robbie mocked, "no wonder Asher left you."
-"I'm gonna kill you motherf—" I spun around and my fist connected with his jaw. Hard. He stumbled back clutching his face, his eyes wide in fear.
Michael mirrored his expression and Josephine whistled.
-"I'm not scared to fight, just so you know." I said before Michael grabbed me and shoved me away.
-"JEREMY OH MY GOD—" Michael yelled, his voice going a mile a minute. "You can't just- Oh my god- You're gonna get expelled!"
-"I didn't start it," I muttered, my voice tight with anger.
-"Jeremy, you punched him!" Michael hissed, "You can't go around hitting people!"
-"I can actually."
-"Look Michael, breathe, Robbie deserved it." Josephine cut in, "He's a total jerk."
-"Josephine—" Michael started, but I cut him off.
-"Look I'm not in trouble, no one's dead, can we move on?" I crossed my arms.
Michael looked horrified. "MOVE ON!? Move on??! Jeremy you just- I swear one day you're gonna get in serious trouble!"
-"Today's not your lucky day Mother." I rubbed the back of my neck and glanced around trying to find an exit. "Look, I'll see you guys later, I need to go to class."
Michael opened his mouth, but I already walked away, waving off the rest of his stupid lecture.
I weaves through the crowded hallway, doing my best to stay low. But as I passed through a group gathered near the lockers, I see him.
