Bailee's Verison

It was match point.

Never in a million years did I think I'd be one point away from being a 2x national champion.

Asia O'Neal is walking to the serving line, and all eyes are on her. She takes a deep breathe. She then slightly tosses the ball up, does a little skip, and hits the ball.

She was told to serve in between the 5 and the 6, so she did, and then got an ace.

We all ran towards her in the middle of the court and celebrate. Many tears were shed, but it was officially the best day of my life.

After celebrating with my teammates and taking pictures that would last a lifetime, the starting 6 were told to head into a conference room for a post-game interview. I sat next to Madisen Skinner, who has been my best friend these past 3 years of being at the University of Texas at Austin.

We were wearing our brand new white National Champions shirt that our coaches designed without telling us. Some wearing hats on their heads and beads over their necks.

When the interviewees were finishing up asking our libero, Emma Halter, some questions it was now my turn to be asked.

I was starstruck by a certain question I never thought they would ask.

"Bailee, what is your take on Taylor Swifts 'The Eras Tour', I saw you attended the one in Houston?"

"Yeah Bailee how was Taylor Swift?"

"Was she amazing?"

If only they could read my mind.

"Yeah, she was great. Everything you've ever wanted to see at a concert, Taylor will do. She surprised me with how she could just sing for 3 hours straight. I've been a swiftie my whole life but was never able to actually attend a concert." I said.

"Bailee... are you gunna mention the bracelet?" Skinner asked me. "Madi don't even bring it up please I get embarrassed just by thinking about it." I exclaimed to her.

"Bracelet? Bailee what about the bracelet?"

"You participated in the bracelet trend?"

"Give us details Bailee!"

"Um yeah I did."

"She wanted to give a special bracelet to Taylor after the show, while she was making them with me the night before she had a bright idea on giving her one with her number on it!" Skinner yelled into the microphone laughing, watching as I got flushed.

"What kind of number?"

"Your jersey number?"

I let out a big sigh and hopped for the best.

"No, I wanted to give her a bracelet with my phone number on it. I thought it would be fun! Taylor's all about connections, right? What better way to connect than a bracelet?"

"BAILEE DO YOU HAVE FEELING FOR HER?"

"Taylor isn't gay Bailee!"

"That's not my place to talk about, it was just for fun. Next question please, about volleyball this time."

After celebrating with my teammates and my family, Madi and I decided to head back to the hotel.

My head was hurting, my feet were hurting, my body was hurting. I just wanted to take a cold shower and lay down in my cozy hotel bed.

As soon as I walked into my room, I took off my shoes and fell face first on the bed.

I had never been so comfortable in my life.

As I was about to sit up to shower, I felt my phone buzz next to me.

I let out a sharp exhale. I didn't think i was holding my breath. Talking about Taylor gets me nervous.

Looking at all these tweets made me laugh. I didn't think people would take the bracelet thing so serious. I knew it wouldn't have worked, considering I'm just a college athlete and she's an international pop star. She has no idea I exist.

I decided to put my phone down and finally hop in the shower.

After showering and doing my skincare routine, I finally laid down on my white sheeted bed.

As I was laying down I felt my phone buzz, and when I saw the notification my heart skipped a beat.
