"Jonah?"
Lynnie called out to his boyfriend as he walked into the bedroom. He turned around and looked at her, an expression of confusion written on his face.
"Yes, Lynn?" Jonah asked curiously. Lynnie gestured for him to join her, and he moved over to her side of the bed and sat down. He was confused but not surprised about whatever she wanted to talk about, and they were together so she would have eventually brought it up anyway.
She hesitated before speaking, looking down, then back up. Her eyes were filled with tears when he finally noticed that she had been crying.
"Oh, love," he said softly, reaching over to place a hand on hers.
They both knew what this meant. They had already decided long ago, after years upon years of dating each other, that they were going to make it official; that day had even come.
Lynnie bit her lip, trying to hold back a sob. She nodded once in acknowledgment before continuing, "We need to get married."
Jonah's brows furrowed slightly. "What? I thought you wanted to wait for the baby." That is until Lynnie had told him the day after the party that she was pregnant. It was then he'd started asking all these questions he normally wouldn'e have. Not wanting to burden her or himself any longer with having to worry about anything else, he'd just agreed without really considering how much time he'd be taking out from his own wedding planning.
He didn't know if marrying her would be a good thing. If they got married and the baby came then it wouldn't matter who was getting the child, right? But if they weren't married and the baby was born and it was their child then it might hurt them more than it would them. He hated seeing Lynnie upset like this, especially when he couldn't help it.
"I do," she said softly. "But... but we have a little bit of time now."
Jonah sighed. This conversation was definitely a roller coaster, but he wasn't quite sure what could be coming next. The question was still there though, "What does this mean for us?"
The look on her face broke his heart. She tried to smile but failed miserably. He squeezed her hand gently, "Whatever it means, we'll find our way through it. We always do."
That seemed to calm her a little, and she took a deep breath before saying anything else. "When did you get here last night?"
Jonah shrugged. He hadn't slept since that first kiss.▼△▼△▼△▼△
Lynnie is in her room, covering herself with 2 blankets and a pillow because it was the monsoon season. The temperature was cold especially in the night.
"honey, I'm home-" Adam said walking into the bedroom and throwing his car keys on the nightstand next to Lynnie. His eyes widen when he saw her like this, all curled up in a ball trying desperately to keep warm. Adam walks over to her quickly and picks her up from under her arms and throws her across the bed.
She's not really mad about it but she can't help but grumble.
"hey baby, you okay?" He asks as he gets ready for bed and kisses her head. She doesn't answer him because she knows she isn't. The monsoon season started late this year so it's been raining constantly, even at night there are still rain drops hitting the windows and her window.
Adam pulls her close to him and holds her in his arms for comfort. She closes her eyes tight and lets out a breath of air before letting out a sigh, opening her eyes when she feels Adam kiss the top of her head. He looks down at her and gently runs his fingers through her hair.
"it's cold outside..." she says while cuddling her face against his chest. Adam hums in agreement and pulls the blanket up higher.
"you should go lay down, get some sleep honey."
she nods and gets up slowly. Adam follows behind her and helps her put on pjs then they both go under the covers and cuddle.
They stay quiet for awhile, neither wanting to say anything until he speaks up again.
"I'm sorry babe."
Lynnie turns around and grabs him by the hand.
"for what?"
Adam shrugs.
"not doing enough. not being here more. not helping you feel better...I just wanna make it easier."
Lynnie shakes her head.
"don't think that way hunny...You're busy, it's fine."
"no it's not Lynn..."
"Adam..."
"Lynnie please listen...You need me. You know you do, I just don't wanna leave you alone at night or wake you up cause I worry that you're gonna have a bad dream. I don't want your nightmares to be about me leaving you."
Lynnie rolls her eyes.
"Adam, I'm fine, I swear."
Adam shakes his head.
"I want you to be happy. When I see you look so miserable, I wish I could take away that pain but I can't...I'm gonna be here no matter what okay? You'll always be my sunshine and I love you."
Lynnie smiles softly.
"I love you too."
Adam lays back down on the bed and puts an arm over her waist.
"Goodnight sweetheart."
"Goodnight, honey."
Adam kisses her forehead. They both fall asleep quickly after that.
Adam wakes up in the morning to find himself wrapped in a soft blue blanket, a soft smile on his lips. He looks over to see Lynn sleeping soundly and takes note of how peaceful she looks in slumber. He carefully climbs out of bed, careful not to wake her and leaves the house to go downstairs. Adam walks down the stairs to see his mom and dad sitting at the table drinking coffee and eating breakfast.
"Morning sweetie," his mother says smiling at him and giving him a quick kiss on the cheek. Adam leans into her touch. He loves it when she does that; it makes him feel safe and loved.
He sits down at the table opposite his parents and starts eating.
"Have fun last night?" His father asks.
Adam gives a small smile.
"Yeah, we watched movies."
His father chuckles.
"Good to know you enjoyed yourself."
Adam nods.
"How's work going?" Adam questions.
"It's great! It's been hard without you guys working but we're managing!"
Adam smiles.
"That's good."Lynnie woke up and went downstairs to see Adam's parents cooking breakfast for her. She walked up behind Adam and kissed the top of his head. He jumps slightly.
"Gah! Lynn!"
"What time did you get up?"
Adam rubs the back of his neck sheepishly.
"Like 10 am...and I've been up since 5."
Lynnie hums and hugs him from behind.
"Are you feeling any better today?"
Adam shakes his head.
"No. But I tried my best."
Lynnie wraps her arms around his waist and presses a light kiss to his shoulder blade.
"Come on, let's eat, hmm? We need our strength today."
"Oh Lynnie, you're up now, I made you breakfast. Here" Adam's mother says handing him a plate of pancakes topped with strawberries and whipped cream.
Lynn smiles and takes a seat at the table.
"Thank you mom. "Lynnie eats the pancake quickly, savouring every bit of sweetness. Once she finishes, she sets the plate down and stands up to wash it.
"Hm, I see you called my parents mom and dad too?" Adam questioned
with a laugh.
Lynnie looked up with a bright smile.
"Why wouldn't I? You two are the only family I have."
Adam nodded and smiled back.
Lynn washed the plate and set it into the dishwasher. When she turned around, she noticed Adam standing right behind her.
"Didn't mean to startle you." He said quietly, reaching out to hold her hand.
Lynnie gave him a small smile and leaned her head on his chest. Adam sighed in content and pressed a kiss to her temple.
They stayed silent, basking in each other's presence and enjoying each others company. When Adam pulled back he gave her a gentle smile.
"Hey babe?"
Lynnie hummed in response.
"You want to go to the beach later?"
Lynnie nodded happily.
"Yea! Can I wear my swimsuit?"
Adam chuckled.
"Of course you can, baby."
Lynnie jumped in excitement.
"Sweet! Let's go!"
Lynnie ran upstairs to change her clothes and grabbed her swimsuit and towel. She rushed back downstairs to meet Adam.
"Ready?" He asked with a smile.
Lynnie nodded and smiled back, taking his hands and heading towards the car. They got in and drove off to the beach. The wind blew against their faces as they rode along the road, listening to the radio. When they arrived at the beach it was already packed with people, everyone running around like little kids playing. There wasn't much shade so they decided to sit under one of the bigger umbrellas.
"So do you want to start diving?" Adam asked her.
Lynnie thought for a moment.
"Mhm..." she said excitedly.
Lynnie climbed out of the car first, followed by Adam who had a goofy grin on his face. As soon as their feet touched the sand.▼△▼△▼△▼△
"Ughh my leg..." Lynnie woke up earlier while adam was still asleep, and even if he wasn't she had the urge to just get back to sleep herself. Her body felt heavy, her brain felt heavy. It all was just so much. The events of last night flooded back into her memory. She groaned as she sat up in bed, Adam's arm still around her waist. "Adam?" She called softly, gently pulling away. He didn't respond but it gave Lynnie time to gather her thoughts again. "Adam carry me please" she whispered with a small chuckle. He rolled over without opening his eyes. "It is morning... Adam." She said, more sternly this time. "We can't be late for work, you know." He stirred but didn't answer or open his eyes. "Please." She said. Finally Adam opened his eyes and looked at her. "Lynnie?" he mumbled blearily, pushing the hair out of his face. "Adam my leg hurts. I can't walk because you're riding me too hard last
