The next morning, Lexi awoke feeling like she had hardly slept at all. Her mind was still reeling from the kiss with Mattheo, and the turbulent emotions were far from settled. She had resolved to confront her feelings head-on, starting with repairing her friendship with Enzo.

As she made her way down to breakfast, Lexi spotted Enzo already seated at the Slytherin table, scanning the room as if waiting for someone. She took a deep breath and approached him, her heart pounding with a mixture of apprehension and hope.

"Hey, Enzo," she said, taking a seat across from him. "Can we talk?"

Enzo looked up, his expression guarded but hopeful. "Yeah, sure. I've been meaning to talk to you too."

The conversation that followed was a tentative but sincere attempt to mend their strained friendship. Lexi apologized for her recent behavior and acknowledged how her stress had impacted their relationship. Enzo, in turn, admitted he had been overly harsh and that he wanted to be more supportive.

"I'm sorry for what happened between us," Enzo said earnestly. "I know I've been a bit of a jerk lately."

Lexi nodded. "I'm sorry too. I've been dealing with a lot, and I should have communicated better."

They both sighed in relief, the tension slowly dissolving as they resumed their usual camaraderie. The conversation was honest and heartfelt, and they managed to rebuild their connection with a renewed sense of understanding.

Later that day, as they walked through the corridors of Hogwarts together, chatting comfortably, they heard raised voices coming from around a corner. Curiosity piqued, they approached quietly and found a secluded alcove where Astoria Greengrass was having a heated conversation with Mattheo.

"I can't believe you," Astoria said, her voice trembling with a mix of anger and hurt. "You and Lexi? After everything we've been through?"

Mattheo's tone was defensive. "It's not what you think. It was a mistake. It meant nothing."

"It meant nothing?" Astoria's voice cracked. "You kissed her, Mattheo! How could you?"

Lexi and Enzo exchanged shocked glances as they overheard the conversation. Enzo's eyes widened, and he grabbed Lexi's arm, pulling her back slightly. "Did I just hear that right? Mattheo and Lexi—"

"Shh," Lexi whispered, her face flushed with embarrassment and confusion. "We need to stay quiet."

The argument continued, with Astoria's voice rising in distress. "I thought we had something real. But now, I see you're just like everyone else."

Mattheo's voice was barely audible but laced with frustration. "Astoria, listen—"

Astoria cut him off, her voice filled with finality. "No, Mattheo. We're done. I can't be with someone who can't even be honest with me."

Lexi and Enzo waited in tense silence until Astoria stormed off, her eyes red with anger. Mattheo stood there, looking disheveled and frustrated. He ran a hand through his hair, clearly rattled.

Enzo turned to Lexi, a mix of concern and curiosity on his face. "So, you and Mattheo kissed, huh?"

Lexi's cheeks burned. "Yeah, it was... unexpected."

Enzo raised an eyebrow. "Unexpected? That's one way to put it. Why didn't you tell me?"

Lexi looked away, feeling a pang of guilt. "I didn't know how to bring it up. It's complicated."

"Well," Enzo said with a smirk, "looks like things are even more complicated now. We need to get the full story."

Enzo's tone was playful but insistent, and Lexi couldn't help but laugh despite the situation. "Fine, I'll tell you everything."

They found a quiet spot in the library where Lexi recounted the events leading up to the kiss, including the recent tension between her and Mattheo, the argument with Enzo, and the subsequent awkward encounter.

Enzo listened intently, his expression a mix of amusement and sympathy. "Sounds like you've had quite the rollercoaster."

Lexi nodded, feeling a mix of relief and embarrassment. "Yeah, it's been a lot."

Enzo grinned. "Well, at least you've got a better handle on things now. And hey, if you ever need to talk about anything—Mattheo included—I'm here."

Lexi smiled, grateful for his support. "Thanks, Enzo. I really appreciate it."
