Up there on the mountain, it was cold and the wind seemed to make a stinging sensation on Amara's cheeks as she watched the moonlight covering the forms of the trees and rocks on the slopes of the mountain.
There next to her was the handsome male – the Alpha - strong and sexually attractive, his darkness of eyes reflected fire in the night. When the gaze reached her own, she floundered slightly as he drew near. This sent an immediate tenseness within her, but for some reason, there was also something about him which drew her to him, like a moth to a flame, but she did not know how to pinpoint what that "something" might be. His eyes hardened and became serious. "Are you ready?"  Amara nodded and felt her heart thudding against the green fabric of her dress. The Alpha gestured for her to follow him, and she did so. The road here was very narrow, and it was only possible to advance between immense fragments of rock and large bushes stepping on sharp stones. Amara began to feel anxious as if someone was following her. She looked around at the whole environment, well aware of the surroundings because of the animal-like energy that she felt seeping from the ground.

All his movements were fluid and calculated, and each stride of the Alpha was that of complete control over his surroundings - a lord of the land.

After they had walked a particular period of time, the scenery began to change from rough mountainous regions of snow to a beautiful green valley with a thick growth of trees.

The scent of pine and dirt filled the quiet night air, calming her hysterical, throbbing heart.

Taking her to an open ground, here she saw the moonlight coming through the height of the trees, forming patterns on the ground. In the middle of the field, she could see other figures, their eyes with golden pupils—same kind with the Alpha's. Amara felt the rising beat in her heart spurred by both fear and curiosity of the beings she was staring at. "These are not just any wolves," the Alpha announced with the pack proudly standing with him, each glaring challengingly. "This is my pack. They will be your protectors, but you'll have to gain their protection." Amara gulped, and with finality, the realization of what he had just said sank in her stomach. She had never experienced this in her life. Among the pack was a tall, thin, beautiful woman of fair complexion, red hair, and bright green eyes. Amara could see the mistrust and suspicion in that woman's eyes.
"Kian, why did you bring a human here?" she asked, almost spitting out the words from her eyes that were full of anger.

"She is not an ordinary human, Zara. She bears that very key, which may forge the future and the very fate that may crumble the Lycan Corporation on its feet," the Alpha said right into the woman's eyes with a soft voice.

Zara eyed him with doubt. "And you trust her? How do we know that one day she will not turn against all of us?"

More than ever now, that resolve in her propelled Amara close to Zara and looking at her directly she spoke fearlessly "I have not come to betray any of you, I have come to help, I was sent here to put off the lights of Lycan Corporation."

Zara cringed with a half sarcastic smile. "Well, we shall just have to wait and see about that."

Amara felt Kian's hand resting lightly on her forearm, and it made her feel thrilled. "In that case, let's go," he said.

He then led her to a rather dark, partly hidden section of the clearing, a place where an old timber house stood. Amara felt her pulse quicken when she stepped across the door he had pulled open for her, having a look at him, happy with a feeling of anxiety.

There was a hearth, which had fire and a slight smell of cedar-wood in the air, while the rest of the cabin seemed rustic. Kian gestured for her to sit across from him, and then his eyes locked on hers.

"You are very daring to have come here, Amara, knowing the dangers that lurked around us. But as always, there are things that one has to understand in this world, things that change a persons perspective completely.”
Suspicion mixed with curiosity, filled in Amara's eyes, and her breathing became faster. "What do you mean?"
