You are just a fleeting chapter in the hefty manuscript of my life,
The one I'll highlight in the softest pastels,
The one I'll cherish forever,
A ray of sunlight through a cloud.
A ray that comes in the form of paws and a wagging tail,
A wet nose that touches my cheek.
You'll be my partner in everything for as long as your paws will carry you,
And when they don't,
Well, that's ok too – I'll wait.
But, for you,
I am your whole book.
The first and last face you'll see,
The one who hurls that purple squeaky ball you love so much,
The one who's lap you lay your head in on frosty evenings,
The one that helps you unwrap your bone on Christmas day.
The one who's vow to love you and look after you will stay unbroken until your last breath.
Because while you are a temporary part of my life,
I am all you have.
A/N:
This one is about my dog/pets, and the love I feel for them. It also comes to the realisation that they won't live forever, but reflecting on the life I can, will and have given them.
