Baby, I'm preying on you tonight
Hunt you down, eat you alive
Just like animals, animals, like animals, —mals
Maybe you think that you can hide
I can smell your scent from miles
Just like animals, animals, like animals, —mals
Baby, I'm... (Hey)My heart thumped against my rib cage, each beat a desperate drum in the silent night. Tears streamed down my cheeks, hot and relentless, mixing with the cold breeze that kissed my bare thighs.
I wore a long, red dress that clung to me like a second skin, the fabric whispering secrets as I ran. The air was sharp, hitting my exposed legs, sending shivers up my spine.
He was still following me, wasn't he? My breath hitched, and I forced myself to keep moving, my feet aching from the long heels I had foolishly chosen to wear.
I glanced over my shoulder, my vision blurred by tears and fear.
There it was—the sound of an engine, low and menacing, closing in on me. Panic surged through me, and I stumbled, my dress catching between the heel of my shoe.
I fell hard, landing on the ground with a thud that reverberated through my body. Pain shot through my limbs, but I barely registered it.
I curled into a ball, sobbing, my mind a whirlwind of terror. This road, surrounded by trees, felt like a dark tunnel, the moon its only beacon.
The car roared closer, and I scrambled to my feet, my heart racing like a wild horse.
I yanked off the offending heel, tossing it aside. My knee throbbed, a deep scratch oozing blood, but I didn’t care. I couldn’t care. All that mattered was running, escaping.
I pushed myself up, ignoring the pain, and started to run again. "Run, Layla, run!" my mind screamed at me. "He’ll catch you if you don’t! He won’t leave you alone!"
My knee burned, the blood flowing freely now, but I kept going. My feet were cut and bleeding, the stones and debris tearing at my skin, but I didn’t stop. I couldn’t stop.
I was crying, gasping for breath, my chest heaving with the effort. I had nothing left, nothing but the primal need to escape.
Escape from the ruthless mafia who killed people without mercy, from the man who had been stalking me for six years, from my boss—a man I had once dropped over for his handsome features—who had lied to me, who had said he would never kill anyone.
A black Bentley appeared ahead, cutting off my path. I froze, my breath catching in my throat.
I took a step back, my foot slipping on the gravel, and I landed hard on my butt. The driver’s door opened, and he stepped out, his figure illuminated by the car’s headlights.
I tried to stand, but my feet twisted painfully beneath me.
"Ahhh!" I screamed in agony, clutching my ankle where it had twisted.
He knelt in front of me, his face glowing in the light and the moonlight.
His ocean-blue eyes seemed to pull me in, devouring me with their intensity. His sharp jawline was set, a smirk playing on his lips.
I hated how my traitorous body reacted to him, how my heart skipped a beat despite the danger.
With a single finger, he lifted my chin, his eyes absorbing every detail of my face. "You shouldn’t try to run away from me, little demon," he said, his voice cold and commanding.
I jerked my head away, pushing his hand aside.
I managed to stand, but the pain in my ankle made it difficult. "You’re a monster who kills people! You lied to me!" I screamed, desperation fueling my words. Before anything else could happen, everything went black.
My knees gave out, and I collapsed, but strong arms caught me, lifting me off the ground.
"Good job," he murmured, his voice close to my ear. Someone was there, but my eyes were closed, my body too weak to fight anymore.
"Welcome to my hell ,little demon" were the last words I heard before darkness claimed me.
