The rain had been falling in sheets, soaking through the clothes of Sukuna and I. Each drop felt heavier than the last, almost as if the world was trying to drown us. Sukuna walked ahead of me, searching for something other than a tree to protect us from the chilling rain. Despite the downpour, his figure was still imposing. He was desperate to find a place for us to rest. He didn't care much about the rain—or anything for that matter.
By the time we found a building to take cover in, I was shivering from the cold. My sleeves heavy from the water soaking each fiber. Sukuna pushed open a door, revealing an abandoned room. Empty—but dry.
I stepped in after him, hugging my body in a desperate attempt to warm up. If my clothes were dry there would be no issue, but no way in hell would I be taking them off in front of Sukuna. My teeth chatter—the silence between us was thick. He hadn't said much on the way here as he was so focused on finding shelter.
Sukuna had sit against the wall across the room from me, watching me with an expression that I could not read.My every movement, his eyes glued to me. As I settle on the floor across from him, I glance over making eye contact for less than a second before roaming my eyes elsewhere. He was still watching me.
"Come here."
His voice was low, a command rather than a suggestion. I hesitated, standing up and slowly walking to the other side of the room—sliding down the wall next to him. His burning gaze watching my every move. I could feel the unease creeping up my spine. He knew I was freezing.
Before I could overthink it, he wraps his arm around me and pulls me closely into him. Tensing up for a moment but slowly easing into him, as his body heat radiated to me. The warmth coming from him was undeniable.
"You'll catch your death like that." He says in a low tone, the heat from his breath against my hair sending chills down my spine. We continued to sit there, listening to the pouring rain against the roof. The tension between us only growing stronger, his grip tightening. I could feel his gaze again, only this time I didn't look away.
"What?" I asked quietly, still shivering from the cold. His lips quirked, but there was something darker in his expression. "I can feel it you know. The way you react to me." The air between us suddenly got thick. The weight of his words hung between us. His arm tightly ever so slightly, pulling me close until I could feel the fall of his chest against my side. The warmth of his body seeped through my drenched clothes, doing little to calm the shivering that had little to do with the cold now.
"I don't.." I started, but the words caught in my throat. Every part of me saying to pull away from him. He let out a low chuckle "You don't what?" His voice was softer now, but there was a sharp edge beneath it, like he was playing with me. "Don't pretend you're unaffected." I swallowed hard, trying to summon some semblance of control. "You're the one who pulled me close." He smirked, and I hated the way my heart skipped at the sight of it. "And you didn't resist. Interesting."
I clenched my fists, frustration and something else warning inside me. I had spent weeks avoiding him, avoiding his gaze and the way his presence sent my skin alight. Now here we are in an abandoned building, surrounded by cold and rain. There was no escape, and sukuna knew it. He always knew.
"Out of fear you'd kill me." He smirks again. "That so? You know I have a small soft spot for you."
"Maybe i'm just cold." I shot back, my voice sharper than intended. "Is that all?" His tone was mocking, like he was humoring me. "Then why does your heart race everytime I touch you?" I froze, my breath catching in my throat. Could he hear it? the frantic thudding of my heart, loud enough to drown out the storm outside? He could see right through me.
