Jaime is used to a lot of things.
Never having a constant in her life is one of the defining qualities. Never being constantly safe, or constantly happy, or any less traumatised.
She had to come to terms with her problems, but her friendship with Sabrina is... different to all her other ones.
"Hey, gorgeous," a pint-sized blonde girl drops in the seat next to her.
"Hi, Sabrina," Jaime replies, smiling at her.
"You doing anything right now? Cause I could eat."
"Nope, I'm bored. Sounds good," She replies politely.
---
"You've never had McDonalds?" Jaime gasps in horror. "That place is my version of a Wonderland!"
"I feel like I have to get to a certain point in my career to eat it," Sabrina explains. "I promise I'm not just being a health freak or some shit."
"Valid reasoning," Jaime shrugs. "What about Thai?"
Sabrina sighs dreamily. "You know me so well."
Red alert. Jaime's heart might actually stop.
It's been really fucking weird recently, Sabrina's always been nice to her but now she's always around. Stealing glances, being flirty or making any physical contact with Jaime.
She's so gorgeous, and Jaime's mother practically worships her. Jaime had actually been listening to her music a lot, whenever she wants to hear Sabrina's voice.
It's just, Sabrina is really straight. The only thing she's ever done to suggest she's not is in her 'Taste' music video, she kisses a girl. Jenna Ortega. Jaime has a lot of competition.
---
Sabrina isn't used to feeling like this. Especially not for a girl.
A super hot masculine girl, but nevertheless.
She doesn't mean to flirt, she doesn't mean to die inside whenever she makes a way too over the top joke or is awkward, but she does. Is she creeping Jaime out?
Jaime seems kinda into it.
She hides her face from Sabrina, so she can't see her blushing. She stares at her for longer than just friends would. They do a lot together, and Taylor is really happy that Sabrina and Jaime are good friends. That's it. Good friends.
Though they instantly act like normal friends would, around Taylor. Sabrina does not need her seeing her flirt with her daughter. Hell no.
That's like a death wish, Taylor is so protective of Jaime.
They've only known each other for two weeks, and Sabrina might just be a little infatuated with her. But not really, because she cannot like her friends daughter. But then again, she's the same age as said daughter and kinda into her.
Nope. No way.
But when Jaime reaches over to open the door for her, ungracefully as fuck. She smiles as charmingly as possible while Sabrina says, "such a gentleman," and flees the car before she can see her blush.
Who the fuck thought it was a good idea to introduce them.
Jaime drove her home, after what could have very well been considered a lunch date. Has any man been as kind to her as Jaime? As hopelessly devoted, even if it could just mean a platonic devotion? No.
Though as time stretches on, she finds herself swooning at the slightest thing she does. Jaime agrees with her on everything, takes her shopping and listens to her rant. Sabrina is careful not to touch her as often as she wants to, not wanting to freak her out.
Until one day, they're standing in the park, watching the sunset because Jaime thought it was pretty.
"You want me to throw that out for you, honey?" Sabrina asks, indicating to the empty slushie cup that Jaime's holding.
Jaime stammers, obviously noticing the term of endearment. "Yes please!"
Sabrina takes the cup from her, making sure their fingers brush when she takes the cup. An experiment, if you will. Just to see if her platonic bestie notices and gets flustered by their skin touching.
You could say that she did.
She flushes, kind of frozen as Sabrina walks away.
---
Over time, Sabrina doesn't touch Jaime as much still, until one night.
Jaime is freaking out, shaking and alone in her room. Taylor's at the studio, so she's home alone. She's getting a panic attack, and it's getting worse by the minute. Hyperventilating, she only knows one person who she wants to talk to.
She opens her messages with shaking hands, typing in 'pls come 2 my house rn. thru my window', and prays she responds.
No response. Until two minutes later when there's a knock on her window, before it opens and a cute blonde falls into her room.
"Hey, Jaimes-?" Sabrina approaches her, noticing her tear streaked face and panicked state. She'd started using Jaimes as a nickname for Jaime, thinking it as a symbol of how much of a distinguished gentleman she is.
"Baby, what's wrong?" She hesitantly kneels in front of Jaimie on the floor, brushing a piece of hair behind her ear.
"Panic attack," Jaimie hiccups. "I get them sometimes."
"What's triggering it?" She asks gently, hesitantly taking her shaking hands in her own.
"Just hate being alone, uhm I'm really sorry for texting you, you do not have to be here-"
"I want to be. If you don't want to be alone, I'm staying with you."
"Oh. Okay," Jaime's hands begin to slow down a bit.
"Can I hug you?" Sabrina asks.
She nods hesitantly, and the shorter one wraps her arms around her gently, before Jaime basically drags her to her bed, hugging her tighter.
Okay, so now they're basically cuddling. Sabrina could get used to this.
They stay like that for a while, Jaime in Sabrina's arms, letting her rub soothing motions in her back.
---
God, she must be really fucking traumatised.
That's what Sabrina thinks the second she notices her touch-starved friend begin to calm down at her touch.
She can't even be alone, but she got adopted by a woman who would most definitely be out of the house a lot. Not Taylor's fault, not at all, but she really should check on Jaime more.
Even though she can tell how much she cares about her daughter, it would not be hard to get her some therapy, though she's sure that Jaimie would refuse it.
She peers down at the drowsy girl cuddling her, almost jumping out of her skin when Jaime starts playing with her hair.
Okay, not the time to get flustered, not the time to get all creepy and definitely not the time to kiss her.
Nope.
Well... she could?
Nope. Not a good idea. That would definitely be taking advantage of Jaime's vulnerability, and she doesn't give a fuck how much Jaime likes her, it will not change the fact that if they were to... kiss, it would not be fair at all to do it when she's at her weakest.
Maybe later.
What the fuck, she's known this girl for like a month, but she genuinely wants her.
Damn, okay.
