Chapter 1: 1980s
After waking up, Tang Ruanruan found that the ceiling of her house had changed.

The cozy white roof was replaced by tiles that were slightly leaky, and the exquisite and gorgeous chandelier was replaced by black wooden beams.

Tang Ruanruan moved her body and sat up, and the wooden bed beneath her made a teeth-grinding creaking sound.

Looking at the dilapidated walls and simply arranged furniture around her, Tang Ruanruan realized that she had traveled through time.

She reads a lot of time-travel novels, but it is still a bit strange for such a low-probability event to happen to her.

In the quiet room, her stomach made protesting sounds. Feeling weak, Tang Ruanruan covered her stomach and walked out of the room holding on to the wall.

Outside the house was a small courtyard surrounded by a fence. The house that Tang Ruanruan came out of was on the left, with a well next to it. Tang Ruanruan found that there was no one in the house, so she looked around.

Opposite the courtyard gate is a large house with many dried vegetables and tools hanging on the wall.

On the left is a long kang, at the end of which stands a wooden cabinet that reaches the ceiling.

There was a large wooden table on the open space on the right, a pile of processed wood at the base of the wall, and several straw baskets and wooden bowls and chopsticks next to it.

The kitchen is on the right side of the main house. Seeing a pile of firewood at the door, Tang Ruanruan finally had hope of filling her stomach.

Ignoring the pile of potatoes and sweet potatoes by the door, Tang Ruanruan opened the chest of drawers expectantly. Various wooden bowls and chopsticks were placed on it, and piles of dried vegetables were placed underneath.

There is nothing that can be eaten directly.

Looking at the rice jar next to it, the yellow stale rice gave off a musty smell, and Tang Ruanruan could vaguely see the black bottom of the jar.

Not to mention the stove, there was only a large pot of water in the pot.

The only condiments on the side were a can of coarse salt and a can of lard with only the bottom left.

There were eggs in the basket hanging on the wall, but looking at those three or four eggs, Tang Ruanruan didn't dare to eat them casually.

It can be seen from the house that this family is not rich. These few eggs are the food rations for several people. Even if Tang Ruanruan has no conscience, she would not do such a thing as eating enough and starving the whole family.

She had no choice but to squat next to the haystack at the fence gate, waiting for someone to come back and give her some hints.

Just when she felt she was about to faint from hunger, someone finally came back. A lame man walked in with a little boy.

Tang Ruanruan stood up excitedly, but her body was too weak and she couldn't stand steadily for a moment. She swayed herself, leaned on the haystack beside her and looked at the two people at the door.

Seeing the boy's familiar face, Tang Ruanruan knew when and where she had arrived.

The young boy in front of him was none other than Tang Ruanruan’s neighbor uncle before she traveled through time—Tang Shi.

Tang's mother and father divorced when she was a child. Tang's mother was busy outside to make a living, and there was no one at home, so Tang Ruanruan often stayed at her neighbors' houses.
