my captains soft side (Luffy x Nami)

chapter 1

this story is gonna be about luffy's more emotional and softer side that he doesn't show to many people,hope you guys enjoy!

the day started off like normal,nami was working in her room while everyone was still asleep,after a few minutes of working she decided to head out to take a quick break,she was leaning against the guardrail of the ship,looking at the sea as the ship was moving she heard a sobbing noise coming from somewhere,she went towards the sound and found luffy sitting on the figurehead of the ship which was his usual spot,but she noticed that he was..sobbing?,she also noticed that he didn't notice her yet so she decided to speak up

"um luffy are you ok?" nami asked softly,not wanting to startle luffy

luffy hears nami and quickly wipes away his tears before putting on his usual big smile"of course i am!,what are you doing up so early nami?" luffy asked in his usual excited and happy tone but nami noticed that his smile seemed..forced?

"luffy...you're not really ok are you?..your smile isn't real is it?" nami say bluntly

luffy gets surprised and looks away,not wanting to tell the truth"what?,my smile is real!,maybe you didn't sleep well nami you should go rest"luffy tries to sound convincing but nami sees through it

she grabs his face gently and made him look at her"luffy...please just tell me,whats wrong...we're crewmembers...we're friends"she says softly,not wanting to be forceful but wanting to know the truth

luffy eventually gives up and lets his true feeling out"i...its just...i miss ace"he bites his lips,trying his hardest not to cry since he doesn't want to worry nami

nami freezes slightly,remembering how she read about ace's death while she was training in weatheria and was devastated once she knew that he died in front of luffy,she felt a mix of sadness and guilt since she wasn't able to help luffy at the time,she looks at luffy and hugs him"..im sorry luffy..i should have been there for you,im so sorry"she felt luffy stiffen slightly and she spoke softly"luffy,everyone is asleep its only me and you...let your emotions go"she says gently as she hugs him tightly

luffy tears up,wanting to cry but still not wanting to"n-no...im ok...i..im strong!"luffy says loudly,nami pulls back slightly and looks luffy in the eyes"luffy,you're strong,let yourself be weak this time...you've been strong for too long...its ok to let your emotions go"she caresses his cheek and her words make luffy fall apart,crying uncontrollably as he held onto nami,wanting comfort,nami comforts him and holds him throughout the entire time he is crying,luffy cries for almost a full hour but eventually stops,he looked up at nami and nami saw how vulnerable he looked and she kissed his forehead"Are you better now luffy?"

luffy sniffles and nods weakly"y-yes,thank you nami..im sorry for looking...weak"he looks away,feeling embarrassed

nami shakes her head and smiles softly"luffy...its ok to be weak sometimes...no need to feel embarrassed or weak..you're amazing...you've saved me from arlong..without you i would still be in that terrible place,suffering and hating it,you are the best person i know luffy"she says genuinely,meaning every word

luffy freezes slightly,feeling something he's never felt before...his cheeks heating up slightly as he felt an unfamiliar feeling in his stomach,he looks at nami and feels his heart racing faster with each passing second"t-thank you nami"luffy weakly said,his cheeks growing redder as his heart was beating faster

nami notices his blush and gets a little concerned"luffy..whats wrong?"she asked softly,being worried

"i-i dont know..my hearts beating faster,my cheeks feel hot and i have this weird feeling in my stomach"he explained quickly

nami froze,shocked at what he said"luffy when did you start getting this feeling?"she asked slowly

"it started when you told me that i was the best person you knew"he said,unaware of what he just admitted

nami gasps,fully understanding now,but she noticed how luffy didn't understand so she decided to help him"luffy..what you're feeling right now is..love"she gently explained

luffy tilts his head feeling confused but then slightly understands and turns red as he realizes whats going on,nami chuckles softly and lifts his chin up so hes looking at her"luffy...is it ok...if i kiss you?"she asked softly,wanting to show luffy what it means so he can fully understand it

luffy nervously nods,making nami slowly move,moving her lips closer and closer until they touch luffy's,luffy freezes,not knowing what to do or what do say so he just closes his eye and lets nami lead the way,nami gently holds him closer,her body now touching his as they kiss,after a few minutes she pulls away and licks her lips

"how was that luffy?,did you like it?"she asked with a slight smirk,already knowing from the way luffy is blushing and turning red

luffy touches his lips,feeling confused yet happy,his heart beating slowly as he takes deep breaths"it..it was really good,i loved it!"luffy says in his usual excited and loud tone,feeling better and happier then before

nami smiles softly,glad she was able to make luffy forget about his sadness and make him smile again"im glad...remember luffy if you ever need anyone to talk to...im always here for you..not just as your crewmate..but as your friend..ok?"she said genuinely,wanting luffy to understand that even though he's strong its ok to let his emotions out

luffy looks at nami,feeling slightly hesitant but then nods"i...i understand nami,thank you for helping me,i still..dont know much about love?,but you'll teach me right?"he says with a playful and happy grin

nami sighs and smiles softly"you're hopeless luffy"she chuckles and nods"alright,ill teach you about love sometime luffy, but tell me what did you think about the kiss?"she asked curious about his answer

luffy thinks for a few seconds before responding"it felt really good and it made me feel really happy"he says simply making nami laugh softly

"luffy a kiss on the lips is something only people in love do"she explains slowly,making luffy blush

"a-are we..in love then?"luffy asks nervously

"of course luffy,we'll take it slowly so you can understand,we wont rush anything ok?

luffy nods and smiles happily"thank you nami,ill do my best to learn"luffy laughs as he grins widely making nami smile and chuckle softly

nami gets up and stretches"i have to go rest luffy,ill see you tomorrow so goodnight"she said softly as she walks away

"goodnight nami!"luffy says excitedly as he watches her walk away,already excited for tomorrow and sighs happily before laying on his back and falling asleep
