Kate Martin- Secret

Background: Addyson Clark knew if she wanted to play basketball in college, she'd have to follow her sister to Iowa, so she did. She'd met Kate her first time going to a home game, and really liked her. She was excited to be a freshman next year. When the time came, Kate took her under her wing, just like she did Caitlin. The more time they spent together, the closer they became. They started hanging out without Caitlin, which is when they came to the realization that the feelings they had for each other weren't feelings friends have for each other. 

For Caitlin's sake, they knew that being more than friends was not a good idea. Kate dating her best friend's little sister? Sounds like a betrayal. Addyson dating her sister's best friend? Betrayal. In Addyson's sophomore year (Kate's 5th year), Caitlin went home for the weekend and the younger stayed behind, with Kate. One thing led to another and movie night ended with a kiss; and a conversation. They decided that Caitlin didn't get to dictate how they live their lives, so they started dating, secretly. Didn't take long for Gabbie to find out, but she knew it was important to keep the secret. Secrets can only last so long.

Addyson Clark's POV
(December 4th, 2022)

We enter the locker room hyped up. We just got a pretty big win over Wisconsin, 102-71. It was an important game after losing to NC State the other day. I'd also prefer not to lose just before my birthday, it dampens to mood. Kate and I both played well and got some solid time on the court. My sister also did well, but is not happy with her performance, so she's a bit cranky. I got my personal high today with 21 points, and my 8th ever double-double

We clean up in the locker room and ride the bus back to the hotel, excited for the food that awaits us. We drop our bags off in our rooms, shower, change, and head down for our late dinner. We sent in our Chipotle orders earlier, which are now ready and waiting in the dining area. My sister and I got roomed together, again, with Kate and Gabbie down the hall from us. The 4 of us meet up with a few of the others and take the elevator down, meeting pretty much everyone who wasn't in the lift with us down here. 

We eat and the room is very lively, all of us satisfied with the way today went. The coaches postponed their post-game speeches to now so we could calm down, shower, and come back to eat. They discuss the game and some improvements that need to be made. They congratulate me on my personal high and double-double. 

"Alright ladies" We all stop and pay attention again, "We are traveling home tomorrow, the bus leaves at noon. Be down here by 11:30 at the latest. We're doing hotel breakfast tomorrow which goes from 6-10. Since tomorrow will be busy and we're all together right now, I think we have something to celebrate." Bluder smiles and everyone starts cheering. 

Jan comes out with a cake with big 20 candles on it, placing it in front of me while everyone gathers around me and starts singing. When they're done they clap and cheer as I blow out the candles. Everyone eats cake before heading up for the night. It's nearly 11 now, so everyone goes to their own room to get ready for bed. 

I go through my night routine first and change into pajamas, then Caitlin does the same. One of the reasons we get roomed together so much is because typically, at least 1 pairing will get a single bed room since the hotel runs out of doubles. Of course the siblings get to share. It doesn't really bother me too much, I just wish I had a chance to room with other girls; mainly Kate and Gab, but I would stay with anyone. Since we started dating, we haven't been roomed together, even though nobody (besides) Gabby knows we're together. We roomed together like 7 times last year, which probably contributed to us being where we are now.

"Are you excited for tomorrow?" My sister comes out of the bathroom. 

"Should I be?" I furrow my brows, confused at the question.
