"So, you're telling me," y/n said, her voice steady but her eyes flashing with incredulity, "that the only way to infiltrate this gala is with Wolverine playing my doting partner?"
Nick Fury nodded, the gravity of the situation etched into the lines on his face. "We need someone who can handle themselves in a fight, and who better than Wolverine?"
Y/n couldn't argue with the logic, but the thought of spending an entire evening playing arm candy to the man she'd had a professional rivalry with for years was less than appealing. "Fine," she sighed, "but if he ruins this mission, I'm holding you responsible."
The training montage was a blur of frustration and tension. Logan's gruff demeanor didn't exactly make him the best partner for a believable romance, but they both knew the stakes were too high for failure.
