The moon cast a silvery glow over the forest floor, making it easy for Elara to track her prey. The rustle of leaves and the distant hoot of an owl were the only sounds to keep her company. Her eyes never left the fleeing deer, her breaths steady and silent. As a twig snapped underfoot, she paused, her senses on high alert. The deer dashed away, and she spun around, her bow at the ready.

A figure emerged from the shadows, not unlike the creature she'd been pursuing. But it was a man, not a beast. Tall, muscular, with a wildness to his gait that seemed almost feral. He stopped when he saw her, his eyes piercing through the darkness.

For a moment, Elara felt exposed, like she was the one being hunted.

"You shouldn't be out here alone," he growled, the gruffness in his voice hinting at something deeper.

Elara's grip on her bow tightened, but she held her ground. "I've been managing just fine," she replied, a hint of defiance in her tone.

The man stepped closer, and she caught the glint of his adamantium claws. Logan. The legendary Wolverine.

Her heart raced, but she forced herself to remain calm.

"I'm just passing through," she lied, her eyes darting to the deer tracks now lost in the brush.

Logan studied her for a moment before nodding. "Then you're in luck," he said, his voice softer now. "I know these woods better than anyone. I can help you find your way."

The offer was tempting, but Elara was wary. She had learned the hard way that trust could be a double-edged sword. Yet, something about his eyes, the pain she saw reflected in them, spoke to her own. Maybe, just maybe, they weren't so different after all.

They walked in silence for a while, the only sounds the crunch of leaves beneath their boots and the occasional night creature. The tension between them was tangible, a dance of curiosity and caution.

"What brought you here?" Logan finally asked, his gaze focused on the path ahead.

Elara took a deep breath, considering her words. "The same thing that brought you," she said, keeping her voice low. "I needed to disappear."
