Wednesday:

Dear diary,

Tristan was absent today; Kou and Chris say he's just a little sick. It's not that I think they're lying but something just feels off. There's something they're not telling me, not that we've been speaking much anyways.

It's almost unfair how I've been here for 4 years now, and I only have a few acquaintances but Kou and Chris strut right in and become 2 of the most popular guys in the school. I guess that's just what happens when you're in the same circle as Peter and Allison. I mean, what was I expecting? That they'd chose me over the popular benefits, who am I kidding?

Thursday:

Peter doesn't really surprise me, he's a prick

but the others seemed to be really into you

I think you're really awesome Y/n and if they can't see that, screw them.

You're like my favorite person ever!

I wish we were still in the same school :(

Y/n looked over her illuminated screen. Her heart sighed, missing her friend.

Same :/

We should hangout this weekend

Brooklyn instantly responded.

Yesss!

Wait! What about that guy from math?

Y/n looked over her shoulder, Jackson absently looked out the window, shivering slightly. Y/n looked away quicly before he noticed her staring.

I'm to nervous to talk to him

He's way to cool

He was probably just pitying me

"Y/n L/n!" the teacher scolded, "no phones in class. This is your only warning."

Y/n nodded and put her phone into her f/c backpack, ignoring the sardonic grin on the boy behind her.

Friday:

We still good for lunch tomorrow?

Yes so excited!

I can't wait to try out this cafe!

Y/N began typing a new message, walking to her next class. Suddenly, a hand reached out from the crowd and grabbed onto her wrist. The unknown assailant dragged her into a quieter part of the hallway.

She looked up to recognize the familiar iced stare of Peter.

"Umm hi?" she stammered. "Do you need something?"

"Oh, I..." he seemed flustered. "...I just wanted to attempt to persuade you to reconsider joining student council."

Y/N slipped her phone in her pocket and replied, "I'm sorry, but I need an art credit to graduate. I don't need student council."

"There's lots of art credits beside stage crew, and we can alter your schedule fairly easily."

"The counselors said the deadline was Wednesday."

His grip on her wrist tightened. "Tristan's dad is the superintendent for this district; he could help."

Y/N's heart dropped at the mention of her history partner. "Is he doing okay? He's been gone the past 3 days."

"He's fine, Y/N. But back on topic, we'll change you out of stage crew."

"No," she said, attempting to rip her wrist away. "I think it'll be fun."

His left eye twitched, "Fun? You're joking."

He could tell by her annoyed expression that she definitely wasn't. Before Y/N could respond, the bell rang, marking them tardy.

"F*ck," he mumbled.

Y/N struggled out of his grasp. "Wish Tristan well for me," she called out, running to her period. She grimaced at the faint bruises, leaving purple streaks around her wrist, pulling down her sleeves to hide them as she walked into her period.

Peter watched her go, confused.

Confused by her lack of reasoning.

'Why wouldn't she want to join?'

'Student council looks excellent on college applications; does she not want that?'

'She'd be a perfect addition.'

'What could be so special about stage crew?'

Between the rhetorical questions, an image of Chris floated into his mind. Tall, blonde acting upon the stage. His eye twitched repeatedly.

'No, that can't be her reason. I won't let it be.'

..........

A/n: Sorry for the short chapter. I was trying to show that time was passing in an effective way. Simply because I don't like stories where everything happens in a week, I'd prefer to write a more realistic timeline.

Big chapter coming up! Thanks for reading! :)
