It's the last day of the retreat.
As the sun shines through the neglected, slightly frosted windows of the mahogany cabins, Chloe thanks the heavens she wasn't on her side of the dorm. She was often prone to having the morning sun act as a rude alarm clock, but there was no need to worry about that today.
She was on Red's side of the dorm this morning. In Red's bed.
Despite being fully clothed, obviously, the intimacy of being in such close proximity to her was still a new thing. Another new thing was the kiss they had shared a couple of nights ago. One which neither of the girls has seemed to address, or what it could entail for the future of the relationship.
Such is fate for two avoidant people who pretend to be anything but.
Both girls knew they wanted more from the relationship they had established before, but what was the relationship they had now? They had gone from rivals, to rivals with benefits, to friends to a giant question mark. It would puzzle anyone who dared to question it, but with Chloe and Red there were no questions to be shared. It was the last day, and Chloe had other things on her mind...
"If you sleep any longer, Coach is going to have your head." Red coos, removing the sheets that covered Chloe's eyes from the dim, less badgering sunlight of the morning. Red felt as if she could bask in this moment forever, having Chloe right by her side with the cutest case of bed-head she had ever seen.
Embracing these feelings, letting herself feel for Chloe and knowing that those feelings were reciprocated was another level of joy she couldn't express. It had almost made her forget about all the worries awaiting her after the retreat. The finals, her mother, the pressure of being the team's star player, and her worries just seemed to melt away similar to Chloe's conscious state as she draped the comforter back over her head.
"I know just...five more minutes," Chloe mumbles from under the sheets but groans once her warmth is removed by Red.
"You're starting to sound like me. Does that make me a bad influence?" Red questions, comforter in hand as Chloe begrudgingly wakes from her slumber, sitting up on the bed with a soft smile. "Not necessarily. I think you can do both good and bad, and letting me sleep would do both of us some good,"
"Is that so?" Red giggles with an eyebrow raise. She doesn't have much time to question Chloe any further before the girl plants a soft kiss on her lips, lingering just enough to capture the moment. Chloe pulls back, yawing "I am a firm believer. That is, if you don't want my company...?"
Despite her tired nature Chloe somehow did have the energy for her dramatics. And Red, well, how could she not easily play along?
"Well, that's not the case at all. If I could keep you here forever I would," Red smiles, leaning in for another kiss. This time around she drops the comforter, opting to rest both of her hands on Chloe's jawline before she pulls back, staring the blue-haired girl into her brown eyes. "But, I know you have important things to do today." She goes in for another peck, "And so I think it's best we get you up so we can enjoy the rest of the day...together."
Chloe sighs, moving her hand up to capture Red's with a semi-pout. "Fine. You win," She couldn't deny that her heart did swoon at the gesture and the prospect of spending the rest of the day with Red did intrigue her. So fine, she was going to get up. So much for being an anti-morning person.
Chloe rolls herself out of bed, heading for the bathroom that was directly behind Red's bed. Despite being in the middle of the wilderness, both girls found it hard to complain about their living conditions. It was like glamping for athletes.
