It all began when they were in the first year of college...
Dylan was beginning to build his reputation as a notable delinquent in Leaga City. Soloing his track as he always looked for a fight everywhere to make a name of himself. From school to school, he looked for students who he perceived as prospects to be beaten. Word of mouth spread so fast that it got the attention of the authorities.
Rhyd Officialdom, the organization under the rule of President Nelson Rhyd, was the one that was responsible for overseeing the authorities of Yuta, the Land of Humans.
In a terrible time that Dylan had been, there was a time when he was cornered by the Officialdom when he was running away from them. The man that arrested him was this thirty-nine-year-old big belly bald officer named Jorge Brown.
Officer Brown took Dylan under his custody. They took a minute to have a deep conversation inside the interrogation room.
"You know, kid, it's still not too late for you to change." He said, giving Dylan a chance to give up what he was currently doing and see the possible future where he could walk a different path in life. "What are you trying to achieve? What are you trying to prove? Why are you doing these horrible things to those powerless students out there?" He asked him the value of his actions and what drove him.
With handcuffs surrounding his beat up wrists, Dylan looked at Officer Brown trying to make a point as he said, "Those people that I attacked, they were not innocents. They were the most horrible spoiled rich kids trying to do things the way they wanted to be. They don't deserve to have the riches and the golden tickets if they are going to use them in a bad way," he added.
"That's why you taught them lessons? Is that what you're telling me?" Officer Brown interrupted his speech as he asked him the depth of his philosophy. "You have a very complex mind. You know, you have the potential to be a great citizen of this Land. I can see it in you, kid." He continued, motivating him to become a better person.
Dylan went silent.
"You're enrolled in Evamile College, right?" Officer Brown asked, gaining his thoughts together to make a valid decision for Dylan's punishment. "You're a freshman. That's where we start. You're lucky that you're not going to jail even if you're already an adult now," he informed him.
"You're still going back to your studies. But you're only allowed to be at your college and your house. No other places to go. Just study and home," he declared his punishment. "And also, I'll be assigning someone to look after you." He spoke about the conditions Dylan needed to meet.
"Kayce Vasquez," Officer Brown announced the name. "This girl is also in her first year but she proves to be a great leader since she's part of the student council. She'll be the one who will monitor you regularly. You can learn from her. She's already aware about this as this was discussed between me and the college. There's nothing you can do but comply. You hear me, kid?" Officer Brown ended his statement.
Hearing from an authority, especially when Officer Brown said he can do better in his life, Dylan saw an open door. His best friends, Cam and Joel, always tolerated his actions even if he was hurting other people. This was the first time someone told him to change. So, he grabbed the opportunity.
Then Dylan met Kayce.
While walking in the corridor near the student council's office as he waited for her to come out, Dylan felt nervous.
For the first time in a long while, he was scared. He did not feel this when he was fighting other people. Instead he was surrounded by fear of what kind of a person Kayce could be.
