CHAPTER TWENTY —
peacetime in the valley

AFTER ALL THE CHAOS WITH KARATE, it was finally at peace. or so it was for daniel larusso and his family. even though 99% of the lawrence/diaz/keene family was finally happy where they were, there was that 1% that wasn't.

and that was adeline.

the others didn't notice but charlotte sure did because she was the one who stuck with her the most. adeline was quieter than usual and she would only go out if it was with eli.

the conversations charlotte had with her were small and only answered with one or two words. it was sure taking a toll on charlotte since she didn't know what to do, she didn't wanna get yelled at by adeline again and again.

since johnny told the kids about the baby, he turned his life around. adeline came out of her room with non-brushed hair and nothing but a hoodie and sweats.

abuela gave her and charlotte their lunches, kissing their foreheads while they walk out of the apartment door. charlotte started high school, freshman year and she was nervous.

she sat in the back with adeline, her leg bouncing up and down while she read through her schedule once again so she didn't get them mixed up. miguel noticed how nervous she was and leaned over to reassure her.

"don't worry lottie, i'll help you find your classes." he told her and she looked up at him with a grateful smile on her face.

once they arrived at school, she saw anthony get out of sam's car and she immediately ran towards him, engulfing him in a big hug. it was like she hasn't seen him all summer, even though they were together last night at his house.

she pressed a small peck on his lips, intertwining their hands together as they walk inside the big school. he looked around with a smile on his face. the other doors opened, both charlotte and anthony turning their heads to see kenny and lorelai.

they both had that sad look on their faces, still not over the whole cobra kai thing. although there was some silent 'peace' between anthony and kenny..charlotte and lorelai on the other hand did not have anything.

they both glared at each other before charlotte gripped onto anthony's hand and quickly walked away. she rolled her eyes and anthony noticed her tensed nerves, speaking up.

"have you and devon talked?" there it was again, the topic of her ex best friend. after the whole karate thing, devon and charlotte have not said anything to each other but the brunette started training with eagle fang once again.

it was awkward between them, not talking to each other really made training awkward for each other. charlotte sighed and looked up at anthony with a shake of her head.

"no." she mumbled and anthony gave her a look. "i'm sorry okay? there just isn't a good time to talk about it."

anthony understood, nodding his head and looked at her. "i have to go to science now. i'll see you at karate?"

"yeah if my dad doesn't decide to ditch again." charlotte playfully rolled her eyes and he chuckled at her comment before kissing her forehead. she had a smile on her face when he pulled away. "bye ant."

"see you lottie." they both went their separate ways, charlotte trying to find her history class.

let's just say she was 10 minutes late.

CHARLOTTE WALKED INTO MIYAGI DO. her bag was over her shoulder after her dad tried to bring her, miguel and robby to the eagle fang dojo. well, used to be eagle fang dojo.
