*10 week timeskip*
'Land, finally!' cried Yasopp as we finally docked at a new island for the first time in 10 weeks. It was a long voyage but this island brought restock of supplies and some information that our captain needed in his search for Blackbeard.
The crew had cabin fever, myself included. We tackled a huge storm at sea half way through travel and I honestly contemplated throwing myself overboard because of how annoying some of the men were stressing out thinking we were all going to die. Honestly, so dramatic.
'Everyone, town is only a 10 minute walk. No rush, we're here for 3 days. Head into town and have a look around. Ben, come with me' Shanks commanded looking at Ben.
Shanks and my relationship never changed much after our talk in his office. He treated me just about the same as he normally would prior to my pregnancy. The only difference was that he would ask how I was feeling every morning with a few 'do you need anything?' questions. Although this was what I wanted, I did find it hard to be around him sometimes. Around the 16 week mark of pregnancy my hormones hit me hard and I started getting... well... in the mood, so to speak. It made me realise why most people tend to get married before they have a child.
Watching him training with no shirt on just about made my nose bleed. I was banned from any vigorous training. I was also banned from touching all the unknown plants we had. Hongo was worried they might cause pregnancy complications because we didn't know what some of them were. It was better to be safe than sorry.
But now, finally we are on solid land.
'Hey kiddo, wanna come with me? I'm going to look for the pharmacy or something like it' Hongo said looking at me.
'Yeah, sounds good. Let me grab my bag'. The both of us started walking. It was a busy seaside town. Lots of fishing, farming and activity. People were everywhere. Kids were running around, playing with each other. Couples were shopping. It was nice. There were other pirates around but everyone seemed to not make a commotion. This was a breath of fresh air.
Hongo and I found a pharmacy that sold every herb known to man. It was huge. We bought all the items we needed to restock plus more. After about 30 minutes shopping in the pharmacy, we walked out and strolled past a library.
'Mind if we go in?' I asked.
'Sure' Hongo responded. We walked into the library and I immediately headed towards the botany section. I found 5 books that seemed interesting, put them in a pile and sat them at a table, pulling out a chair for myself.
'You can go find the guys if you want' I said to Hongo. I was probably going to be a while.
'It's fine. I'll stay' he replied hesitantly. This man did not want to stay. I had a feeling I knew why he wouldn't leave.
'Honestly, this town seems chill. I'm just in the library. We're supposed to meet at that bar later right? I'll meet you guys there in a bit. I promise I'll be fine' I told him.
Hongo let out a long sigh. 'Damn, okay. If I'm not at the bar later, then captains thrown me to the sharks. Stay safe or it's my head'. And with that, he left me in the library.
I fully immersed myself in a book, snacking on crackers that I brought along with me. I was now 20 weeks pregnant. The halfway mark. Although I still had nausea in the mornings, I could stomach small meals after midday. My stomach had a small curve to it now and you could tell that I was expecting and that I didn't just look bloated. That could possibly just be because I'm carrying the child of a 6ft 3 man. But I was glad I was showing. It made the situation feel more real. Today I wore a fitted long sleeve black dress with my boots and my belly definitely seemed to pop more after I ate my crackers and drank my water.
