Caeles.

Everyone leaves one by one, leaving just me and a few Guardians staying to clean up the bloody mess. We put a white cloth over the executed sinner, escorting his lifeless body away to the Eternal River, where his soul may rest. I clean up the blood and leave as soon as my job is finished.

I make my way to the dorm. I pass by the field on my path, and decide to check on the herd of sheep before I continue going. The sheep are circling something, I go in and see.

"Oh dear."

Lying inside the circle is Mary, the quietest sheep in the herd. She was a good girl, what a loss, dying so early. I hold her body up like a baby in my arms, bringing her to the river. I heard from other angels that Mary has been really sick for awhile, she probably was helpless. I put her down the river and watch her drift to the afterlife.

"May you find your friend there, he must be waiting for you too."

I walk back to the dorm. On my way, I met a lot of angels. They all run over and greet me, asking if I'm alright. I smile at them, just nodding my head and walking forward. I don't have the spirit to talk to anyone right now.

Before I get back to my room, I should pay a visit to Him.

I enter a small building behind the basement. No angels know of this place besides the Guardians, so I won't be bothered. I turn on the light inside, closing the door behind me and kneeling down.

"A lot has happened today, God."

...

"Your child was a sinful son, but need not to worry, he has been eliminated. You should feel at ease now, right?"

The void stays silent. I can never tell what He's thinking.

...

"Is this really what you want?"

No answer, as expected. I don't know anything about Him except for his wishes that's passed down through generations, and I've just been following them without asking. That's just what angels do, they obey, they don't question. He's always right. It's just how it's always been.

Though I can't help but feel my mind aimlessly drift to what Fatalis asked me.

He didn't choose that. Yet, sins are still sins, nothing will change this fact.

I stand up and get to leave.

"Caeles."

"... Guardian Samuel?"

I bump into the Ruler Guardian. How unexpected, he barely makes an appearance in a place like this.

"It must have been scary for you, wasn't it?"

Guardian Samuel pats my head gently, stroking my hair.

"It's not easy having to execute your own child which you raised."

"Yes. But I'm fine, please don't worry."

I lower my head, keeping my composure. Guardian Samuel just smiles. I keep staring at him, unable to take my eyes off him.

"I heard you declared about giving yourself a punishment for "failing your duty " ?"

Guardian Samuel continues to caress my face, as if soothing my fear. Did he notice my hands were shaking? He's making me turn into a mess. He's a really gentle person, and I admire him. For him to become the Ruler Guardian while being older than me by just a year, that's hard work.

"You don't have to bear the burden, Caeles."

"... Thank you, Guardian."

It's just the two of us in this room. I rarely have time to spend near him, so I appreciate that this moment has come by.

...

He's a really admirable man. Without him, I wouldn't ever be called "Guardian Caeles". I've followed his image since I graduated, and he helped guide me to where I am now. I'm thankful, utmost thankful.

I just wish I could tell him

That I...

That I
