Two years later day of Aegon 2 birthday
"I think father has gone mad" Rhaynna said pacing around in the garden frustrated in front of Quentyn, Quentyn stood in the garden, watching Rhaynna pace back and forth, her agitation clear "Calm down, princess," he said, his voice gentle. "What has your father done now?" He asked "You're a prince do you not pay attention to the news?" She asked as Quentyn chuckled softly, his eyes glinting with amusement at her question.
"Of course I pay attention to the news," he said, his tone mildly mocking. "But I want to hear what's troubling you" he said "Funny, he's he's married Alicent Hightower my younger sisters best friend and now he has a two year old with the child" she said annoyed. Quentyn's smile faded, and his expression turned more serious. He leaned against a nearby tree, processing the news "I see," he said slowly. "So that's why my father and I were invited today, it's his second birthday..." he said "Oh my poor mother whose soul rests in peace" She said sitting on a bench letting out a heavy sigh as Quentyn sat down beside her on the bench, his expression turning sympathetic.
"Your mother would not want you to worry so much," he said softly, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder. "She would want you to be strong, to support your father and your family." He said "The girl is a child and she gave birth to a child" Quentyn nodded, silently agreeing with Rhaynna's observation. He knew the girl, Alicent Hightower, was on the younger side. The idea of her marrying the king was troubling.
"I understand your concerns," he said, his voice careful. "But your father must have his reasons for this decision..." He paused for a moment, glancing at Rhaynna, who was still visibly upset. He tried to reassure her with a small smile "Perhaps he sees something in this Lady Alicent that we cannot see," he suggested. "Your father is not a foolish man. He may have a reason for this marriage, even if it seems strange to us. he is king of the realm after all he has a duty to his people" "you men of politics" she said sighing, Quentyn chuckled softly at her comment, amused by her frustration.
"Oh, don't lump us all together, princess," he teased. "We are not all as conniving as you might think. Some of us have hearts as well." He leaned closer to her, a smirk playing on his lips. Quentyn held her gaze, his expression playful. He shifted slightly closer to her, his hand still on her shoulder "I can think of at least one person," he said. "A prince from Dorne with a handsome face and a penchant for irritating a certain Targaryen princess." "Prince of Dorne? What prince" She asked teasingly causing him chuckle, amused by her feigned ignorance. He leaned in even closer, his voice dropping to a soft whisper.
"Oh, you know. The one sitting right next to you. The one who can't help but find you incredibly captivating and irresistible to talk to." "Oh" She said surprised blushing at his words as the two went silent. The air between them suddenly felt charged with unspoken tension. Quentyn's gaze was fixed on Rhaynna, his expression a mixture of admiration and desire. He had not expected his playful teasing to have such an effect on her. He gently brushed a loose strand of hair away from her face, his touch lingering for a moment longer than necessary.
"You know, princess," he said softly, "You are even more beautiful when you blush." "T-thank you" She said as they both drew closer to each other Quentyn's hand moved from her shoulder to gently cup her face. The distance between them had almost disappeared, and he could feel the heat radiating from her body. He could tell she was flustered, and he found it endearing. His thumb traced a soft path across her cheek, savoring the sensation "You're welcome," he said, his voice low and intimate. "Your blushes are like a secret language, telling me things perhaps you don't even realize." He said as she stared into his eyes breathless "Princess" Her personal knight Jorne said interrupting the two.
The spell was broken, and Quentyn reluctantly pulled back a bit, reluctantly breaking the intimate moment. He turned his head to look at Jorne, trying to hide the annoyance he felt at the interruption. "Princess the royal family is ready to leave for kingswood" Jorne said closing his eyes pretending not to notice anything Rhaynna let out a soft sigh, reluctantly acknowledging Jorne's words. She had become so caught up in the moment with Quentyn that she had almost forgotten about the upcoming trip.
