The assistant had not finished when Chaerin already heard the sound of things being thrown from inside the room followed by Sun Yeong's cold and odd tone.

"Let her come in!"

The assistant trembled and quickly bowed slightly to Chaerin whose expression was strange. She stared at her with a complicated gaze before she said softly, "Mrs. Yue, best you go in quick. The company..."

When she saw the assistant hesitate, Chaerin realized that the matter did not seem to be a simple one. Then, she picked up her pace and went into the room.

Inside the ward, Sun Yeong was leaning against the headboard while her hand clutched a tablet as she flipped through it. The light above the headboard shone on her and Chaerin could already fell the coldness from afar, especially after she heard her footsteps. In that instant, Sun Yeong looked up and Chaerin could see the anger and hostility that flashed in her eyes.

Stunned, Chaerin quickly walked over to her bedside. "Mother? What's wrong? Why don't you look so good?" she asked in concern.

The moment she opened her mouth, Sun Yeong's pair of old eyes cut through her like cold, sharp blades. She stared coldly at Chaerin and could see the shock in her eyes.

"Mother, what's wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?" Chaerin asked uneasily.

Sun Yeong's gaze became even colder as she handed the tablet to Chaerin. Her sharp voice which was mixed with an icy, biting-cold wind entered her ear. Unable to bear the piercing cold, Chaerin immediately tensed up and took the tablet nervously.

Chaerin looked down at the tablet. The picture on the screen immediately greeted her eyes, that familiar face, that ambiguous entanglement of shadows...

She immediately turned pale and her whole body shivered as her hands trembled without control. Her legs even stiffly took a step back while her eyes instantly turned dull.

This scene was taken all in by Sun Yeong's sharp eyes.

Without a doubt, from such a reaction, this must all be true!

Her aged eyes instantly turned chilly as ice. Her gaze was sharp as she glared at the pale Chaerin. She ground her teeth till they almost turned to powder, feeling extremely disappointed and angry. Her tone was exceptionally hostile as she said, "Look at you. Does that mean all this must be real then? Am I right? Tell me! Is this all real!? Tell me!"

The fury that Sun Yeong held back in her chest finally exploded at this point. She picked the cup by her side up and flung it at Chaerin. "I had such high expectations of you, yet you went and did such shameless things, bringing shame to the Kim family. Furthermore, it's with a male star that the company signed on! How great of you! Do you know how to write the words 'no sense of shame'?"

Chaerin trembled in panic at once. She did not evade the cup Sun Yeong had thrown in time, and with a whoosh, the cup smacked Chaerin accurately. The pain blossomed before Chaerin could even snap back.

"Mother, I..."

Chaerin was disconcerted. She trembled as she read the things on the tablet and her heart immediately felt like a hand had furiously grabbed and squeezed it. The sharp claws made her heart sting!

Hyunbin had used this to threaten her for the divorce back then. She remembered that they had clearly been burnt to dust, so how did these things surface to be exposed?

Could Hyunbin have lied to her?

Was it Hyunbin who exposed these?

That was impossible. If it were Hyunbin, he did not have reason to do so since they were divorced now. He had achieved his goals. Based on how he was like, he probably would not have done this.

Still, Chaerin could not ponder further at this point. Sun Yeong's stern scoldings were just beginning to enter her ears.

"Don't call me Mother! I'm not your mother! How dare you do such things? Where is the Kim family supposed to put our dignity? Tell me what all of this is about!"

"Mother, I... I really didn't..."

"If I guess correctly, back then, you agreed to sign the divorce papers so quickly because of this." Sun Yeong's cold tone did not have a hint of mercy as she fixed her gaze on Chaerin with hostility.

She remembered back then that she had asked Chaerin why had she signed the papers, but she did not say anything. She just wept. Back then, she thought that Chaerin was just done being wronged, so she let go. Who would have thought that it would be because of this!?

Chaerin panicked as she felt a suffocating pain surge up, and she almost fell limp.

"Hmm, now that things have come to this point, what else do you have to say? I've already gotten the company to call Arthur, but his phone is switched off right now. Who knows where he's hiding?! I can't believe that you'd do such a thing! You've really disappointed me! I've treated you so well all this while! And you... You're trying to destroy Yueying! You're a Mayoress. How can do such shameless things? How embarrassing!"

"Mother, it's not like that. Let me explain!" Chaerin walked up and wanted to calm Sun Yeong down, yet she smacked her hand that reached out away.

"Get lost! Shameless, lowly thing! I always trusted you, yet you did such disgusting, lowly things. Now, Yueying's going to be destroyed by you! Fool!" Sun Yeong started to rain down with curses again. Her old face had turned beetroot at this point.

Chaerin shuddered slightly, enduring the pain that suddenly arose in her chest as her eyes began to redden. Immediately, they welled up with tears and she held the hand that Sun Yeong had struck as she stared in horror at Sun Yeong. "Mother, what are you saying? How could you curse me like that?"

"Am I wrong? Did you forget how you promised and guaranteed me back then?" Sun Yeong spoke sternly.

"Mother! You don't even know how Hyunbin and I are like! I've married him for over 20 years now. Apart from that night, he's never so much as touch me. I'm a woman too. Why do I have to be a grass widow all my life? I've put my whole heart in for the Kim family, quietly loved him for so many years, and what did I get? He hates me! His hatred for me has been increasing. He said I was disgusting and malicious! In the end, he just used divorce papers to kick me aside. All the things I've done all these years, what were they all for?"

As Chaerin lashed out, the anger and unhappiness in her heart could not help but be released too. Her eyes were hot, and in the blink of an eye, they turned misty with tears.
