Chapter 1: Death and Chance

Y/N left her job in a hurry. She was late for her appointment. She already was dressed in her coat to keep herself warm from getting chilly since it was autumn. The young woman, who lives alone, didn't have family and friends whom she could ask for help. Not to mention, she didn't have a driver's license. While she could use the bike, she called herself stupid and decided not to use it. She didn't want accidents to happen if there should be more wind than usual. 

Y/N was panting while running, feeling the urge to drink her favorite juice or water. She wasn't a beer and alcohol drinker. That's disgusting. Heck, she didn't smoke and didn't plan on starting it! "I am late... I am late!" The girl was already out of breath. She felt like she was that rabbit from Alice in Wonderland, a famous classic.

She booked an appointment to get her hair and scalp massaged since she was stressed from everything. She worked at a steady job and all of the coworkers were nice, except for one. Well, she wasn't a coworker, but the boss of the place. Her name was Karen and she had the looks that many crazy Karens have. Thanks to Karen, who made Y/N stay over past her work hours, she was late for the appointment. Y/N wanted to cry. She hated being late! 

Y/N was running, passing people by who were glued to their phones but some of them watched where they were going. Seriously, this generation was weird (no offense). Y/N was only 21 and had still a full life ahead of her but sadly, it would end... Or would it? 

Y/N saw that she could run on the street, where there was a green light for walkers. And no, not zombies. While Y/N was running, she sadly didn't someone yelling at her "Watch out!" before she was hit by a drunk driver...

In the afterlife ~

Y/N remembered seeing black. Not only that but also... people who were dead. Their souls. The woman looked around, where she saw herself standing... in front of her dead body!? She freaked out and slowly calmed herself down. She looked around again and saw many people like her, who were dead, giving her a look of sympathy. Why wasn't she in heaven... or hell if she did bad stuff? But she never did bad stuff where she would meet with the devils. Perhaps the other souls who were here on Earth like her weren't ready yet to depart? Were they guardian angels? 

"You must have many questions, don't you?" said a woman who was dressed in a cloak and walked up to her.

Y/N looked at the figure with suspicion but also worried. The figure was covered in a grey cloak, including her face too, which was dark to see. Many of those figures were described to be mysterious, evil, or good. But mystery suits them. But forget about that! Y/N needed answers. "What... happened to me?"

"You died when a drunk driver hit you while the light was green for walkers who passed by," the woman said in a blank tone as Y/N watched the ambulance and the police doing their jobs. The workers from the ambulance tried helping Y/N, not knowing that they were too late, while the police arrested the insulting drunk driver.

"But you are not ready yet to go to the afterlife," the same woman said suddenly, causing Y/N to look taken aback and baffled. "What?"

The woman ignored that and explained further. "I will give you one last chance of life but somewhere else. I know that you adore Lego Monkie Kid world but you must do a mission for me."

Y/N gulped slightly, feeling nervous. "What is it?"

"Make the friendship alive and good again between the Monkey King and his doppelganger." Y/N didn't dare to say anything else so she listened as the woman said: "For many centuries, Sun Wukong, the legendary Monkey King, and his best friend-like-brother, Macaque, have a strong bond like brothers who would help each other in need. Ever since they met. But when Sun Wukong got powers and turned into a legend for many to wonder at, he left his brother behind and became selfish, always wanting to be everything above all else. I want you to make the friendship alive again."

Y/N nodded softly.

"You must help a young kid into his journey as the Monkie Kid. But be aware... there will be someone out there who will try to kill you. She was trapped for centuries, desiring to have a world without pain and imperfection."

Y/N gasped and couldn't believe who it was. She may know some stuff about the show, but she knew who the woman referred to. "You mean..."

"Yes. Her name is LBD, full name for Lady Bone Demon."

Before Y/N could say anything else, the cloaked woman turned to her. "Do you accept your mission, even with risks?"

"Ye-" She was cut off.

"Good luck, Y/N. May your crushes protect you from her."

"Wait!" But everything turned white.
