People from different times and different places in both life and death sit down and watch how a small, broken--but still good--family save the world. Over and over again.
Where a little girl with powers beyond even she knew would do anything to save her brothers.
Where shattered people sacrifice over and over again, slowly whittling down til nothing is left but sawdust and broken dreams
Where even the best of us sometimes fall into the Darkest abyss of ourselves and become the worst sort of monsters.
Where anger seems to be the main emotion of the day, followed by sadness and agony, which spills into despair.
Grief ebbs and flows like waves. You feel it, then you don't. But it's always there. Slowly dragging you down into the depths of misery. She couldn't save everyone. That's not on you. That's not your fault, darling. She didn't believe that.
As she grew, she grew more and more embittered with the world and those that surrounded her. She saw the darkest parts of humanity and the things hidden from it, and she knew what both sides were capable of.
She knew what was out there. She'd been hunting the things that went bump in the night since before she could really remember why. It was all she knew. She knew the only way out for her was death. That was the only way she'd ever stop hunting. She couldn't stop and risk innocent people getting hurt otherwise.
That's rather unfortunate.
