Cameron was trying to explain something to England. It looked like algebra—lots of numbers and letters—but he wasn't really paying attention.
Cameron's so smart, England thinks to himself. I'll never get it . Know who else is smart? Milo. She isn't just smart, either. She's pretty and cool and she seems so fun.
England watches Milo as she tries to explain something to her friend Ori. This proved she was kind, too. Ori, the only other dark-skinned kid in the class, kept staring at Cameron with starry eyes. Whatever—he was paying attention to Milo, not her, even though he knew he didn't have a chance. But when she keeps smiling and brushing her hair out of her eyes like that- who could blame him?
