Bev, the local ICA cashier for the last 22 years, knew trouble when she saw it. And today, it was rolled up in the form of three teenage girls who clearly needed to smile more. Especially the one in front—dark clothes, messy hair. Milo, wasn't it? Yes.
Bev pulls her usual customer service lines, the girl takes her Pepsi and leaves. That's teenagers for you. It really wouldn't kill them to smile every once in a while... Some day, Bev wants to write a memoir. Thirty years behind the till, it'll be called. Then people will know what it's really like, dealing with all these sad teens.
Because, you know what? Bev always smiles.
Even if no one else does.
