You were allowed to go home after you're done with the orienteering, but Claude forgot his football shoes in his locker, so he treks back to the school. Eventually he arrives at his locker and unlocks it, immediately noticing the crimson rose lying on top of his workbooks. His heart skips a beat.
"Aw, how sweet!" he mutters, reaching for the flower. He takes it out and holds it gingerly, as though it might snap. Then he shoves his blue football shoes into his bag and closes his locker, only now noticing the crumpled-up piece of paper taped to the locker door.
FAGGOT, the paper screams in angry red letters. There's a rainbow doodled next to the word.
