"Earth to Bony!" Sujin waves her hand over Bony's face as he blinks back to what felt real.

The smell of life was described:

The sounds of people talking made things seem more sync where the sunlight rays upon the play park. Children being children enjoying the nonexistence of the existing world where question are forcefully not answered. The weather felt at peace and oddly very bright and ... beautiful. No sight of pollution within the space, it felt clean as the smell of brewing coffee grains clouded the atmosphere with sparkling pastries season the scent of sugar and a pinch of spice tickle the sensation of brunch on an ordinary Sunday.

At first Blue didn't understand the feeling ever since what happed a week ago until Wednesday when he lied down in his room alone on the carpet floor. They were no audience to look at him or a sudden call from anybody to check up on him. His mom was in the living watching another reality show on Moja love [ South African channel on television]. When her laugh was loud along with her cousin's giggle the agony of feeling alone felt more real than ever.

And all he could do was cry silently without being at peace.

"What!" Bony says, Sujin's eyes hold a worried glimmer as she leans closer, her fingers fidgeting with the edge of the table.

Bony would never sit silent and listen to her complain about mom for the past ten minutes. Occasionally he would interrupt her getting to the fact he needs her to repeat her last sentence to process the situation the tease a bit around it until it became a whole joke when the both of them laugh their hearts out.

But instead of the usual banter, every word from Sujin feels muted, like colors washed away in a storm. Her brow furrows as she studies him, a flicker of something darker in her eyes. It felt odd because from the start Sujin and Bony were laughing when they walked their way to the mall including a thirty-minute window shopping and shamelessly laughing at people who apparently weren't acting human.

Until they sat in Mugg & Bean ordering some lunch as they were seated outside the store near the play park.

She wasn't stupid when all her thoughts came down to Thando as she stirred her drink, her mind drifted back to that Friday evening at Siyabonga's party.

You are probably wondering why Sujin was at the place around that time and to answer your question she had to fetch Billy's drunk ass from the part, the fact she found him on the floor in the kitchen said a lot when he was drown himself with Doritos and Simba chips felt exhausting when she looked him trying to swim saying his winning the race felt a bit too embarrassing.

Back to the beginning:

The pulsing beats of the music reverberated through the crowded room, where laughter and chatter blended into a symphony of chaos. She remembered the moment she spotted him across the crowded room, laughing with a group of friends, his smile as captivating as she remembered.

"Sujin! Over here!" a voice called, pulling her from her thoughts. She turned, and for a moment, the world faded away—her heart skipped. Thando's eyes caught hers, a flicker of recognition sparking between them.

"Hey! Long time no sees!" he grinned, stepping closer, oblivious to the knot forming in her stomach. She proceeds to speak as she questions why Thando would be here in the first place.

But she was only interrupted by the presence of Owami, her sweet smile was welcome, yet the situation was unsettling, "Thando I've been looking everywhere for you" she kissed his cheek and the grin on his face dropped when Sujin raised her eyebrow.

"Sujin!" a voice called again, snapping her from her reverie. She turned to see Siyabonga waiting for her in the kitchen. Her mouth went dry, unable to say anything, and she rushed her way toward him, her heart racing.

"Why was I even there?" she thought, recalling the frantic search for her friend, only to stumble into a moment she could never have imagined. Thando's playful banter with Owami echoed in her mind, a haunting reminder of what could have been

Sujin reached across the table, lightly placing her hand over Bony's, "You can tell me anything you know that right." The waiter came with their food a polite smile lightened up the mood a bit, just when Bony became more thrilled to smell the coated cheese on the crispy chicken on the soft toasted sliced bagel with the fresh scent of fries and a dipping sauce of avocado.

"What's there to tell?" he mumbles, his mouth full, avoiding her gaze.

"I don't want to force it out of you." She says, grabbing her burger and taking a bite.

"Oh my gosh, me neither." he moans out, Bony felt his mouth melting in texture of the crusty toast with the juicy crisp of chicken strips with the sooth taste of cheese.

"Oh c'mon! You know you can't lie to me." Sujin says

"I can't lie to you, remember."

Bony stopped chewing, he blinks twice thinking he might have heard Thando's voice for a split second except he waited to hear Thando's voice again only to be disappointed with the cold reality when his mind played games with him.

"For some odd reason you sound just like me." Bony says, he looks up staring at Sujin as she takes a bite from here huge bagel toasted with cheese and chicken strips. He could see the stream coming from the bread as the cheese drips over with pieces of chicken as the crunch was satisfying to hear, Bony began to regret his choice of food just watching her eat something he hasn't even tried.

"If I sound like you then we share something in common, yet still different." Sujin says while chewing.

"Like being Asian and Black?" Bony bluntly replies, Sujin stifles a laugh, covering her mouth as Bony bites his lip, snorting at the irony. The light humor shifts the atmosphere, reminding them of their unique bond.

Yet, beneath the laughter, both harbor their secrets. The buzz of Sujin's phone interrupts, drawing Bony's attention. He glances at the screen facedown, sensing a shift in their unspoken agreement to keep things light.

They share a moment of understanding, their eyes reflecting a fragile truth, as if they're both safeguarding each other's secrets.

"Yeah, like being Asian and Black," she says, and just then, her phone vibrates again.

BILLY:
IS IT TRUE?!!
