"Gracias por el viaje [thank you for the ride]." I thank the cab driver hoping my spanish would be enough to translate to proper Portuguese. He nods swiftly as he parks the cab in front of a charming condominium building as I get out and grab my bags from inside his trunk. As he rolls off, I take my time to admire the residing buildings along the street way. Vivienne hadn't lied, Rio de Janeiro was everything and more.
Sifting through my texts, I look to find Vivienne's exact address as I was sure Nalani had sent it to me. Once I read the message, I begin my way up the stairs to the highest floor.
Making my way outside her floors main door entrance. I take a deep breath in as I stand unjustly. I fix myself up not wanting to look too bad after a nine hour flight.
I knock and I knock fast before my brain settles with doubt and tells me to leave and hop on the fastest flight back to New York, I knock.
As I hear footsteps on the other side, my heart slows before picking up faster than before. Not knowing whether to feel comfort or fear. Not fear of Vivienne, but fear of her reaction to me being here.
The door opens before I can imagine the worst, "Hi..." Vivienne speaks to me as she holds onto the front door.
"Hey..." I respond clutching onto my suitcase handle.
