We then return to our main cast of Heroes, Pyrrha, Penny, Dusty and Mendez alongside the NCR Aerial Rangers about to set off to Bloodborne cave when a radio distress call crackled through the static, cutting through the tension of the moment. Pyrrha, with her spear at the ready, exchanged worried glances with her companions.
"Attention all units," the voice on the radio crackled urgently. "Attention All units! Tribals from the tribe have launched an unexpected attack on Hoover Dam. Deathclaws, Dogs and even Centaurs and Gah! Geckos are reported in the area! We need immediate support—there are heavy casualties among the NCR forces! If anyone can hear this, we're taking fire from a coordinated assault! Wait! NO!!! GAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" The radio then cuts to silence, leaving a heavy weight in the air. Dusty then whimpers as Mendez then yells, "Goddamn it! Just our luck! While we were busy with Red Jack and the Legion, something terrible has happened! We need to inform General Hsu and Hardin immediately!" Pyrrha then asked, "What's so important about that Hoover dam place? And who's attacking?" Penny then adds, "Yeah, we don't understand." Mendez then sighs, "Right, I forgot you two are not from this world. Hoover Dam was an old power facility from before the Great War. It's vital for the NCR's water and power supply. If it falls, it could mean disaster not just for the NCR, but for the entire region. And the ones responsible are the Animus Tribe." Penny then asks, "Animus?" Pyrrha adds, "Uhm, who are the Animus Tribe?"
Sgt. Mendez tightened his grip on his weapon, his expression grim. "The Animus are what would be called a hippie, pacifist sort of group. They are usually peaceful but get violent when exposed to modern Technology like guns, Modern Infrastructure and Electronics. They believe humanity has strayed too far from nature and must be brought back to its roots. They also tame the usually untamable beasts of the wastes due to their natural connections. They see themselves as protectors of the land, but that often leads them to radical actions against any force they perceive as a threat to the natural world. That includes Red Jack and his goons, the Highwaymen, the Legion Remnants, and especially us."
Pyrrha frowned, concern etched on her face. "So they're attacking Hoover Dam because they see it as a symbol of humanity's destruction?"
Mendez nodded. "Exactly. They call it the Wall of Evil. To them, it represents everything that's wrong with civilization—exploitation and destruction of nature, disruption of the natural order and all that is wrong with humanity's expansion. They believe that by taking down the dam, they can send a message to the NCR and the rest of the world that they won't stand idly by while nature suffers. They think that by destroying the dam, they claim a victory for nature."
Dusty whimpered again, looking up at Mendez with wide eyes. The poor Coyote is now visibly shaken and Penny decides to pet Dusty to calm him. "It's okay, Dusty," she reassured softly. "We'll help. We can't let them hurt anyone else." Pyrrha then asks, "What happens if they break the dam? What will it mean for the people in the area?"
Sgt. Mendez grimaced, his voice heavy with the weight of the situation. "If the dam falls, it won't just flood Hoover; it could devastate settlements downstream and across all the Mojave and even the entire west. The NCR relies on it for power and water, and if that supply is cut, it will cause chaos. People will starve, and the power grid will collapse. This region could descend into even more violence and disorder. Undoing years of rebuilding!"
Pyrrha clenched her fist, determination flooding her veins. "We can't let that happen. We need to get to the dam and stop them." Just then, another voice said, "And you will." Suddenly, a man stands before the Rangers in a General Uniform but the men are not happy to even see him. The figure was the General they all hated unlike Hardin or Hsu, the one who led the NCR nearly into disaster during the 2nd Battle of Hoover Dam—the arrogant General Lee Oliver, General Wait and See to the troops.
