If She Stayed

Chapter 33

*No one's POV*
Aria walked into Alison's house, the place that the graduation party was taking place at later this evening, after everyone gets their diplomas.
"Ali?" Aria asked as she walked into Ali's room.
"Yeah?" Ali said as she shoved her secret drawer closed.
"This is another picture that I wanted to put in." Aria said as she handed Alison the picture of her and Ezra.
"Nice." Alison said, nodding her head with a smirk. Aria rolled her eyes.

The five girls posed for the picture. When everyone took their pictures, the girls fell out of their poses and started talking.
"I can't wait to be free from high school." Alison said.
"Yeah. All of that A stuff just...needs to go away like how-" Aria was interrupted by a text. She opened the text and her eyes widened.

Like how Ali should've gone away three years ago? Or how she's going to go away tonight? Don't tell or Mr. Fitz won't be capable of anything.

"Aria? Are you there?" Spencer asked.
"Uhh...yeah I...I have to go..." Aria responded and she rushed out of Ali's house.
"What was that?" Hanna asked. Her phone then beeped.

Oh, just Aria running away from her problems. But you won't eat your problems anymore, will you?

Hanna looked up from her phone while biting her lip.
"What is it, Han?" Alison asked.
"Nothing...nothing. So..." Hanna suddenly stopped. Who is sending those texts? She wondered. It has to be someone here...but not in this group, I saw no one open their phones except for...Aria! What if she-
"Earth to Hanna," Spencer waved her hand in front of Hanna's face. "What were you going to say?"
"Oh umm...I should go find Aria..." Hanna said as she rushed out of Ali's house.
She spotted Aria sitting on the curb.
"Aria?" She asked.
"Yeah?" She replied while standing up and turning around. Hanna backed up.
"Did you send that text?" Hanna asked.
"What...you got it too?" Aria asked.
"You did too? The one where you're running away from your problems?" Hanna asked.
"No the...A is back?" Aria said.

"Okay I'm going to go check on them." Spencer said.
As she walked towards the door, her phone buzzed.

Don't go there Spence, if you want your blind secret safe.

Spencer froze in her tracks, because she realized that A was back.

"You know what? I'm just going to...stay here." Spencer said as she walked up to Emily and Alison.
"Fine, I'll go check on them." Emily said.
She made it to the front yard and saw Hanna and Aria talking.
"Are you okay?" She asked them.
Her phone rang.

No, they're just astonished, Em. Don't worry.

"Umm...I just got a text from A..." Emily said to Aria and Hanna.
"That's what we were just talking about! We both got texts from A! Only Aria won't tell me what hers was about." Hanna said.
"I can't! A threatened to do something!" Aria complained.
"Then why can't you 'accidentally' drop your phone and I can 'accidentally' see the text?" Hanna asked.
"Because A will know that we set up that plan! A is always one step ahead and he...she...it will know that we planned it!" Aria said.

Spencer's phone buzzed. She looked at it.

Better go outside, Spence. It's getting ugly.

"I'll be right back." Spencer said and she walked towards the exit.

"Why are you so nosy, Hanna!" Aria asked.
"Because it's life threatening, right?" Hanna asked.
"Maybe." Aria replied nervously.
"It is! Just tell me!" Hanna demanded.
"No! If I don't tell you, someone will get hurt! But if I do tell you, that person and someone else and possibly you might get hurt." Aria said.
That shut Hanna right up.
"Hey...I got a few texts from A." Spencer said as she walked up to them all.
Suddenly there was a chorus of ringtones.

Time to tell a few things to our besties...or maybe I'll do it instead...only I'll tell everyone.

The girls all looked up from their phones.
Aria's phone rang again and she opened the text.

I should probably give you permission to tell them about how Ali will be gone soon...Fitz won't get hurt anymore.

Aria looked up from her phone.
"I can tell you now, Han." She said. She pulled up the text from earlier and showed it to them.
"Don't worry, Ezra isn't going to get hurt anymore. A just texted me."
"We have to get Ali safe, so no one will get her!" Spencer said and started to go inside but the chorus rang again.

She still won't be safe. Might as well not do anything.

The girls all looked up from their phones, scared, unsure of what to do next.
