"Eek!" The floating fairy squealed at the sight of you and hid behind her companion. "Nivatus! She's going to eat us, Traveler!"
You didn't mind, you were used to children hiding away from you. Xiao, with his hand on your back, guided you next to him. Today, he wanted to introduce you to a special someone.
"Paimon! You can't say that!" The blonde boy held his hands by his hips, feeling slightly embarrassed by how his companion was acting.
"It's nice to meet you, Nivatus!" He turned to you, pink tint on his face as he rubbed his nape. "I'm sorry about my companion, Paimon. That was very childish of her."
You looked towards Xiao, who gave you a nod of approval.
Why would he want me to meet this... Traveler?
"It's alright," you reassured. "I don't eat flying fairies."
"Phew!" Paimon giggled sheepishly. "Well, that's a relief!"
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to be late!"
Turning towards the source of the voice, you saw an unfamiliar figure approaching with quick but graceful steps. Her light blue hair flowed behind her, and a soft glow surrounded her, almost as if the very air around her was delicate and serene.
"Ganyu," Xiao said softly, stepping aside slightly but keeping his hand on your back for reassurance.
"You must be General Nivatus!" she said, her voice filled with warmth and kindness. "Xiao told us about you!" She bowed slightly in greeting, her eyes soft as they met yours.
"You don't have to bow," you replied, feeling slightly awkward. "I'm not anyone important."
Ganyu shook her head, her smile growing a little brighter. "But you are. You're someone who has endured so much, and you're still standing. That makes you important."
You glanced at Xiao, who gave you a slight nod, as if to encourage you to open up. You didn't expect her to be so understanding, so compassionate, so kind.
"Thank you, I hope you can help guide me," you said softly, not quite knowing what else to say.
"Yes, that's what they are here for," Xiao added, his gaze steady on Ganyu and the Traveler. "They have been carefully selected to help you."
As the three of them excitedly discussed where to bring you today, Xiao stepped back and gently placed a hand on your shoulder. Without saying a word, he guided you toward the sidelines, away from the lively chatter.
"How are you feeling?" he asked, concern evident in his voice. He wanted what was best for you but was considerate of how you might feel around new people.
You nodded with a small smile. "I'm alright."
Xiao hesitated for a moment, as though searching for the right words. "This is all new for you, so don't push yourself too hard. If you need to step away, call for me. I'll come."
"I will be fine, Alatus. I am looking forward to it," you admitted. You wanted to adapt and learn about the world you had missed. Since Xiao trusted them to guide you, you knew you shouldn't trust them any less.
"I mean it, Nivatus," he said, swiftly holding your hand and caressing it gently with his thumb, sending a shiver down your spine. "Take this day slow. The Traveler and Ganyu will be there, but I want you to know I'm not far behind. Call for me if you need anything."
You nodded, feeling a quiet sense of comfort in his touch and his words. "I will," you whispered, your voice barely audible. Xiao's grip on your hand tightened briefly before he let go.
