Careful not to disturb him, Coraline gently slipped out of bed, moving with the quiet grace of a cat. She tiptoed across the room, grabbing her clothes and slipping into the bathroom. The cool tiles under her feet sent a shiver up her spine, but she welcomed the sensation, feeling more awake with each passing moment.
In the bathroom, she turned on the faucet, letting the water run until it was warm. She splashed her face, the water refreshing and invigorating. As she brushed her teeth, she glanced at her reflection in the mirror, noting the slight circles under her eyes from the late night. Despite the fatigue, she felt a sense of contentment, knowing she had been there for Rafe when he needed her.
After finishing in the bathroom, Coraline dressed quickly, choosing a comfortable outfit for the day. She pulled on a pair of jeans and a soft, oversized sweater, perfect for the cool morning air. She ran a brush through her hair, taming the wild strands into a neat ponytail.
Stepping back into the bedroom, she moved quietly, gathering her things for the day. She picked up her phone, wallet, and keys, slipping them into her bag. She glanced at Rafe, still sound asleep, and felt a pang of affection. She leaned down, pressing a gentle kiss to his forehead, careful not to wake him.
Coraline made her way downstairs, the house still and quiet. She brewed a pot of coffee, the rich aroma filling the kitchen. She poured herself a cup, savoring the warmth and the familiar taste. As she sipped her coffee, she thought about the day ahead, mentally ticking off her to-do list.
Before leaving, she scribbled a quick note for Rafe, leaving it on the kitchen table where he would see it. "Good morning, love. I didn't want to wake you. I'll be back later. Call me if you need anything. - Coraline."
With one last look around, Coraline slipped out the door, locking it behind her. The morning air was crisp and cool, a gentle breeze rustling the leaves. She
took a deep breath, feeling ready to face the day. As she walked down the street, she felt a sense of calm and purpose, knowing that she and Rafe would get through whatever challenges came their way, together.
As she drove to the local farmer's market, Coraline enjoyed the quiet of the early morning. The streets were just beginning to come alive with the hustle and bustle of the day. She arrived at the market, greeted by the vibrant colors and fresh scents of the produce stands.
Coraline strolled through the market, picking out organic vegetables and fruits. She selected crisp apples, juicy tomatoes, and a variety of leafy greens, filling her basket with the freshest produce she could find. The vendors greeted her warmly, and she enjoyed the friendly chatter as she made her selections.
As she was about to leave, a beautiful bouquet of flowers caught her eye. The vibrant mix of colors and the sweet fragrance reminded her of her mother, who was coming back to town after her visit to Charlotte. Coraline smiled, knowing her mother would love the flowers. She picked out the bouquet, adding it to her basket.
With her purchases in hand, Coraline made her way back to her car, feeling satisfied with her morning's work. She couldn't wait to see the look on her mother's face when she gave her the flowers. As she drove home, she felt a sense of peace and happiness, knowing she had taken care of both Rafe and her mother in her own small way.
