"This is empty. You took half-empty tanks?" Kiara looked through the empty air tanks. John B opened his mouth, speechless. Coraline frowned as she helped Kiara search the tanks. "This one is a quarter full," Coraline smiled, picking up the quarter-full tank and passing it to Kiara, who rolled her eyes. "This one is enough for one of us."

"Love it when a plan comes together," Pope said sarcastically, leaning his feet near the wheel. "Does anybody know how to dive?" Kiara looked around, hoping someone would know.

Everyone scratched their heads, avoiding her stare. "Anybody?" Kiara, frustrated, put the tank down. "It's kind of a kook thing." JJ bit his lip before staring at Coraline, joining everyone who was already looking at her.

"Do you know how to dive, princess?" Coraline felt her heartbeat quicken. "Nope. I'm not even a full kook. All we do is party and play tennis."

"Great. Nobody here ever dives." Kiara put her hands on her head. "I read about it," Pope hesitated.

"Great, Pope read about it, someone's gonna die," Coraline frowned. "At least it's closer to diving," she tried to back up Pope.

"Look, y-you put the thing in your mouth and breathe. How hard could it be?" JJ got up to demonstrate. "If you come up too fast, nitrogen gets into your blood, and you get the bends," Pope looked up at the blond boy.

"Bends like, bend over and..." JJ joked, bending over.

"The bends kill you." JJ quickly sat back down next to Coraline.

"Right."

"I can—I can dive," John B offered.

"You can dive. I'm cool with that," JJ said nervously, not wanting to die.

"Since when can you dive?" Kiara seemed confused.

"Are you sure?" Coraline stood up, worried about her friend.

"I'll do it. It's fine." John B crossed his legs. Everyone stared at him, admiring his bravery.

Pope got up from his seat and took out his notebook to start writing. "Let me do some calculations real quick." Coraline stood over Pope, watching him be smart. She was proud of him for getting a scholarship.

"That boat's about thirty feet down. So it'll take twenty-five minutes at that depth. Which means you need to make your safety stop at about," he paused to calculate, "ten feet." Coraline watched Kiara think about something and then take off her shirt before jumping down.

Everyone reacted. "What was that all about?" Pope questioned. All the boys looked at each other. "I don't know, but I liked it a lot," JJ said, admiring Kiara's figure. Coraline couldn't help but bite her lip, trying not to laugh.

JJ felt Coraline's eyes on him before he cleared his throat. "Nothing better than you, princess." Coraline scrunched her face in disgust. John B cleared his throat, and the boys awkwardly sat there, planning when John B would get up.

Coraline waited anxiously for Kiara to emerge from the water, her eyes scanning the surface for any sign of her friend. Finally, she spotted Kiara's figure slowly making its way back to the boat. Relieved, Coraline stood up and walked over to where the boys were still engrossed in their conversation.

"You stick this thing inside, twist, and pull, okay?" JJ instructed, demonstrating with a tool.

"Stick in, twist, pull," John B repeated, nodding. "Yeah," JJ confirmed, glancing over his shoulder to watch Kiara reach the shore.
