𓇼 ⋆.˚ 𓆉 𓆝 𓆡⋆.˚ 𓇼The first rays of morning sunlight streamed through the curtains, gently stirring Coraline awake. She lay in bed for a moment, gathering her thoughts and bracing herself for the day ahead. The weight of her conflicted emotions still hung heavy on her shoulders, but she knew she had to confront them.
As she got up and made her way downstairs, Coraline was surprised to hear the familiar sound of clattering dishes in the kitchen. Her heart skipped a beat, realizing that her mother had finally come back home after being gone for a few days.
She entered the kitchen to find her mother, Maria, bustling around, preparing breakfast. The aroma of fresh coffee filled the air, bringing a sense of comfort and normalcy.
"Morning, Mom," Coraline greeted, trying to sound casual. Maria looked up, a warm smile spreading across her face. "Good morning, sweetie. I missed you."
"I missed you too," Coraline replied, feeling a surge of emotions. She wanted to tell her mother everything, but the words seemed to stick in her throat.
Maria set down a plate of pancakes and approached Coraline, pulling her into a tight hug. "You look tired. Is everything okay?" Coraline hesitated, taking a deep breath. "There's... a lot on my mind."
Maria's eyes softened with concern. "Why don't we sit down and talk about it? You know I'm here for you, no matter what."
Coraline nodded, feeling a mixture of relief and anxiety. She knew this conversation was long overdue, and she needed her mother's support now more than ever. They sat down at the kitchen table, the sunlight casting a warm glow over them.
"Mom, there's something I need to tell you," Coraline began, her voice trembling slightly, but before she could continue, Maria interrupted with a smile.
"Sweetie, I have something for you," she said, getting up and walking over to a shopping bag on the counter. She pulled out a beautiful white dress, its fabric shimmering in the morning light.
"I got this for you for the Midsummers tomorrow," Maria said, her eyes twinkling with excitement. "I thought it would look lovely on you."
Coraline's breath caught in her throat as she took in the sight of the dress. It was beautiful, and her mother's gesture touched her deeply. "Mom, it's stunning. Thank you."
Maria beamed. "I knew you'd like it. Now, let's talk about what's been on your mind." Coraline took a deep breath, the weight of her secrets still pressing down on her. She knew she had to say it, but the words felt heavy. "Mom, there's something I really need to tell you," she started, her voice shaking.
Maria's expression turned serious as she gave Coraline her full attention. "What is it, sweetheart?" Coraline swallowed hard, her heart pounding. "Mom, I'm pregnant," she finally said, the words tumbling out in a rush.
Maria's eyes widened, shock and concern flashing across her face. "Oh, Coraline... when did you find out?"
"A few days ago," Coraline admitted, tears welling up in her eyes. She could see the wheels turning in her mother's head, the shock settling into a deeper concern.
Maria's face hardened, her expression shifting from worry to something sterner. "Coraline, this is serious. You're still so young, and you have your whole life ahead of you. Are you sure about this?"
Coraline shook her head, feeling the weight of her mother's disappointment. "I don't know what to do, Mom. I'm scared and confused."
Maria took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. "Look, we need to think about your future. Having a baby at your age will change everything, and not necessarily for the better. Have you considered... getting an abortion?"
