After Y/N had calmed down, the room fell into a more comfortable silence. Eric, though still focused on his mission strategies, could feel the weight of her gaze. She was starting to pull away, likely thinking she should leave him to his work.
"I should let you get back to it," she said, her voice quieter now.
Eric didn't even look up as he responded. "Sit down," he said, the authority in his voice making it clear that she wasn't going anywhere.
Y/N blinked, but instead of arguing, she settled back onto the bed, her curiosity piqued as Eric rifled through a stack of papers. He tossed them onto the bed next to her, the messy blueprints scattering across the covers.
"What's this?" she asked, picking up one of the sheets, her eyes scanning the incomplete design.
"Something they proposed," Eric replied, leaning back in his chair and crossing his arms over his chest. "It's bad. I think you can fix it."
Y/N raised an eyebrow, her lips twisting into a smirk as she looked over the rough sketches. "So, what? I'm your personal assistant now?"
Eric's smirk mirrored hers. "You're better than whoever put that together. You might as well be in charge of fixing it."
Y/N rolled her eyes, flipping through the pages more carefully. "Don't treat me like I'm your secretary."
For a brief moment, Eric's eyes darkened with an unreadable expression. He leaned forward, his voice smooth and commanding. "I wouldn't waste your time with that. You're the only one who can actually make this work."
Y/N studied the papers, but her gaze flicked up to meet his. "You don't just hand out assignments to anyone, do you?" Her tone was sarcastic, but the underlying question was clear—why her?
Eric stood up, walking over to her. "No," he said simply. "I don't."
Y/N held his gaze for a moment longer, then glanced back down at the designs. "Fine. I'll fix it, but next time, don't expect me to clean up Dauntless's messes for you."
Eric's smirk deepened. "You're not cleaning up their mess. You're making sure they don't screw it up."
Y/N shook her head, but the faint smile playing at her lips didn't go unnoticed. She set the papers aside and leaned back slightly, her eyes narrowing as she looked him over. "You really know how to flatter someone."
Eric's smirk softened, but there was still that dangerous edge behind it. "You're the best I've got."
