(1 month later...)
Doflamingo sat in the sheer darkness and silence of his cell. He'd lost the fight against Aramaki and received the death sentence due to be carried out in 2 days. But of course, he couldn't care less. He hadn't a single thing to care about even if he got away. No kingdom, no SMILE trading with Kaido, and most definitely no more of Monet with her cold, pale back on his hand as she rested by him.
If ever he figured a human could be scared of death, it wouldn't be anywhere near his condition. He'd been like this for a month, just so any hope he had of living was gone. The Impel Down staff and Marines who'd gone for this approach were naturally unaware of Doflamingo's attitude towards death. If anything, he was actually happy. People in this world were stupid, and he'd at least be free from hearing all of it.
These thoughts accumulated in his head made the air around him seem more menacing, and... colder? Initially dismissing it, Doflamingo started laughing like a maniac, but the temperature dropped another 5 degrees, confusing the now silent man. Then a scream was heard. And another. And another, with blood spattered on the wall which he could barely see.
Magellan, with his head still bandaged, stood up and prepared to unleash a barrage of venom at the approaching silhouette, which seemed to be a monster with bird limbs, and... No way, it couldn't be.
The monster speedily took flight as the vice-warden unleashed a barrage of venom where it initially stood, landing behind him gracefully, and, with a single swift slash of its wing, lacerated his chest, leaving him to lay down in a pool of his own venomous blood. The monster then shrunk to the size of a roughly 7'6 woman, turning and walking towards Doflamingo's cell. In approaching, the facial features made it all the easier to tell who they were. The amber eyes, the wavy, green hair, the 'HAPPY' crop top...
"And hello to you too..."
How the hell was she even alive?! She was supposed to be dead in an explosion, and her heart was stabbed as well. The fact that she had been alive while Doflamingo had been rotting away in a cell deep below the sea was... Well, he'd think about that later, but there were questions to be answered first.
"Doffy."
The stunned silence seemed to fill more space in the room than the sea could in the world if it reached Skypiea.
"Monet..."
"Wait, let me get the cuffs off first." She eased the keys that Magellan was twirling around seconds earlier out of his hand, and unlocked the cuffs on Doflamingo, careful not to touch them.
Standing up, he rubbed his wrists to clear them of the cuff marks, and turned to Monet, with both of them knowing exactly what was to be said next.
"How the hell are you alive?"
Monet closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and told Doflamingo everything.
"When Caesar stabbed my heart, it actually didn't kill me. My heart's also made out of snow, and Caesar doesn't know how to use haki, last I checked. The result was that I also lost my powers for a time, when the explosion happened, and I died for some time. I managed to reform before the fruit returned to circulation. I knew I had to find a way to get my heart back in my body, so I walked through the lab for about a day, when I found it, and managed to put it back by making my body snow again."
As she finished explaining, neither of them could do much more than stay silent and look into each other's eyes, and Monet had no struggle seeing Doffy's through his glasses. At least, that was before several prison guards ran to their location, armed so heavily you would think the Sphinx were on its way, had Monet not nearly killed it getting into level 3.
"You good to fight?"
"Get in the air."
Monet did as was requested, and Doflamingo spread his hands out wide. Surging them forward, he unleashed a variant of 16 holy bullets that had the same devastating effect, but hit more targets via redirecting to the next one after each pierce. Within moments, every guard was on the floor, probably better off dead.
"Trained, have we?"
Doflamingo looked up with a smile that was actually one for a man with a genuine joking attitude.
"Why don't you get down from there so I can answer you clearly?"
She couldn't resist a soft laugh and did as he asked as he pulled her in for a kiss. Exactly the way he remembered. Her lips were cold as anything, and he had to lean down a slightly unreasonable 3 feet. But now that she was alive, his memory could probably get jogging again. Especially since he was free again, under more desirable circumstances.
They stepped out of Impel Down's massive entryway to find they were surrounded by water. As Doflamingo remembered, there was an island called Sunset Red not far where they could start afresh, or maybe just do a repeat of Dressrosa, and they both had ways to get there.
"You wanna hang on? I think you'll be in for a long ride."
"No, my string path is faster."
"Oh really?"
There was a brief moment of silence before they both kicked off, with Monet flying as Doflamingo used his strings as a path to get to the island, where they would conquer most of it, and, as would happen some time later, raise their child.
